Synthetic1 Comments on Other's Remixes
Well, well, well. everybody stated my feelings already on this. I'm sorry I forgot to hear this sooner, it was my loss. Keep up the good work, 5 stars from me.
Hi Juko, this is also fun to listen to. I really like the modern rhythmic sounds that go through most of the song. It keeps it interesting and lively, good work.
I like the R & B flavor of the mix, shows yet another facet of your style.
Very cool, I'm sorry I didn't find this sooner, I respect that you don't do comps either.
Very beautiful and deeply touching remix and dedication. Rest In Peace Neda!
I love how modern and atmospheric this mix is, and it evolves quite nicely.
Very cool remix, I honestly can't think of more to say.
Hi OXXO, Rooftop's remix has been an inspiration definitely.
Very strong, confident remix, I like the Oriental Kraftwerk feel to one of the sounds.
I love that stretched comment AF
tttttttthhhhhhhhaaaaaaaannnnnnnnkkkkkkkkssssssss!
Somehow I missed this track when it was new here. Very cool, I agree with everyone elses comments. It reminds me of a lesser known super-group called Ghosts Inc. 5 stars for this one.
Very funky and lively, good work!
I really like the Bass and Guitars on this mix.
This is by far my favorite remix of GWF yet! You were subtle, but fortunately you made more serious than the original.
very entertaining remix.
very nice work!
Nice to see your remix finally arrived, sounds really good.
This is the closest you've ever come to the type of track that would be perfect for a rave party, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Thanks much L-D I really felt great loss when I first put this together.
Well you've done it again. You've got a cool arrangement with excellent sounding instruments.
I am not happy with the piano sound either, so I might very likely re-release it here again with a nicer sound. Thanks folks for the kind words.
whazzzuuuuup? to you too HM, This was quite entertaining. You have become really good at making your mixes evolve constantly.
Very relaxing remix. I find myself wishing that some of your rhythmic pads were louder, but still pretty good stuff here. I'm trusting you'll stray a bit more with future treatments of this pack.
Very nice work, I like it best from 1:10 onward, but it all integrates quite nicely. I didn't find it to be sad, very engaging though.
Very Nice atmosphere, and everything else that was said. It made it worth coming to RWR today.
It is very close to the original, but you made the song seem more serious and modern. I feel that the serious versions hold up better, and I like the added sound effects.
Very strong arrangement, it compliments and modernizes the piece nicely. The drums are Superb, keeps it engrossing.
As Meg Ryan said on JOE VERSUS THE VOLCANO, "I Have No Response For That".
The guitar sound reminds me of that great early 90's sound (Catherine Wheel), that what I dig the most.
I agree with all the compliments on this remix. I also agree with you that it's good to not take these things too seriously. You obviously took the arrangement seriously enough to produce a real entertaining, atmospheric remix.
SS I hope I never notice the similarity to Fred Schneider, Schneider has kept me from really liking the B-52s.
I like this remix especially the dark but groovy bassline, very good work!
It is definitely strange, but I hope you'll re-use some of the best elements somewhere, they are very worthwhile. I love the random synth wave, and the electric piano parts quite a bit, and the percussion was cool too.
Hi MSide I came over to visit your page since I liked your forum comments. I'm glad I came this is a really cool remix for lack of a better word. It is dark, and
unusual yet it has a great groove, plus it doesn't sound like anyone else I can think of. Look forward to hearing more from you in the future.
Very rich and interesting remix, the intro is very unique. Hope to hear a lot more from you in the future.
Nice job, you added the right instruments for this style. Very nice flavor to this.
wow you created a new genre I think, IDM folk!
There is a wild free-ness to this mix and the guitar is very cool. Reminds me of some of Tom Waits best music.
If anyone would like to hear an instrumental mix of this go to:

Thanks for the comments/ratings
Steve
Smooth and groovy both describe this remix well, very fun listening experience, and cooooooool!
You've made very good choices with the instrumental arrangement, makes for a strong, entertaining listen.
I'm getting to where I like lo-bitrates some of the time. I think your strong remix has suffered somewhat from the bitrate though. I'd like to cast a vote for allowing this at 160kbps or more, please RWR.
Excellent strong dance track, has just the right amount of grity-ness to it.
Very dramatic and rich listening experience, probably the most spiritual I've heard here. Very rewarding to be listening to.
Very good! I prefer modern-minimalistic dub to old school. You are one of the few here that has achieved that in places. The whole remix works very nicely, but the modern elements are my favorite aspect. Going on to my favorites.
This is the kind of dance mix I like most, with a mean-ness to it. Dancable, yet experimental at the same time.
Fine strong remix especially for a draft.
Wow this sounds like those all-star rhytghm and soul bands playing. Every instrument sounds strong and well, perfect!
Short, simple and sweet. We made some very similar choices on this remix and my Joi fractals. Your's is more serene and simple which is nice.
Very cool, both segments achieve what theu set out to do. Plus they fit perfectly well together. I sure hope you've been doing this for a while now.
Very dancable remix, definitely retro, but that's very popular aroud here. I love the fat sound and how it interacts with the higher arp sounds. Kepp bringin us that fatness if ya will.
Very strong sounding, almost industrial, and that's a very good thing in my mind. I really like how it changes midway through then builds back up to a seat- grabbing crescendo.
You really did liven up things without savaging the original in a bad way. My favorite thing is your drum and bassline and how they work together so well. Sort of wish they were louder, but I can always adjust my EQ. Strong and Smooooooooooth!
I like the fusion feel to this remix, the arrangement was nicely thought out. Did you intend to have it sound very low-bitrate though? If so that's cool cause I like lo-bit music. If not you may want to get some advice from our experts at RWR. It came across sounding like 20-36 kbps.
Good, good work, this gives me inspiration to want to remix the song someday. I like how you opened right off with a strong groove.
Mellow and fairly hypnotic, chill and serious too, Good work, I look forward to hearing more from you!
I love that vocoder guitar? on this remix, the simplicity mixed with occasional noise is very interesting. I'm allergic to the whistle sound, thank God I only heard it once. The reed instrument made this piece remind me of Tuxedomoon, which is a great thing to me. Plus your' reed instrument was in tune, unlike many of theirs.
This is very classy and stylish. Hip and sombre at the same time. The drums are very clear and tasteful, sounds like they could go nicely on a Miles Davis classic. look forward to hearing much more from you.
5 stars for sure!
The drums are really strong and work well with everything, fine work!
Fine work especially for a first remix, keep it up!
Pretty cool grooves you have here.
Pretty cool, looking forward to hearing the other version. I've owned 2 HP computers in the past, and if you got it to do exactly what you wanted, you deserve extra points for that.
Great recreation of your inspirations. I sort of wish you hadn't mentioned that in your notes, it would have been fun to see how long it took me to recognize them.
Keep up the fine work.
Ditto, what they said.
Fine work, what I said on your other new remix applies here. This version is probably more hypnotic of the 2 to my ears. Great work and still stands out distinctly from both collaborative re-versions. Or as ringo says, "nice".
It really surprised me to hear a fellow synthesizer addict regreating a pipe organ, your notes did help me through the surprise. Strong work and like other's said, unlike anything else here, very creative. I hope you'll consider making a version with a choir.
Very nice to finally get to hear your own take on the Joi song. You created a rock solid groove, and it builds perfectly. Ready to become a dancefloor classic.
I'm very sorry that this didn't make it in time for the contest, it is very nice work. The industrial and hard core touches are my favorite thing about it. i hope you will give us more, despite your' rough start at RWR.
Very interesting remix, the sounds, grooves and mood all flow together very well. Kept me interested through to the end, great work!
You've definitely earned a break with all the nice remixes you've been giving to RWR. Fine note to go out on, dancable yet chill, great work!
Nice merging of styles and sounds on this remix. Very impressive production overall, and great sounds!
Very nice concept and I believe the execution waas successful on different levels. there is a consistency to the primitive and serious mood of the remix. Your hand percussion sounded very nice and realistic, and the pads were also nice. Nice to see you moving in always new directions, keep it up please.
I'm impressed by the power and tribal qualities of this remix. You are right that bass guitar is not needed on this one, it would dampen the feeling of this one. I'm almost upset hearing someone say that it is too rudimental. I guess all early forms of Orchestral music would be too rudimental for that particular listener. Fine work, interested to see what you'll offer us next.
It sounds very re-assuring and safe, which makes it a nice remix to return to after a hard day.
Definitely a head and toe tapper.
Very good work, you did make the most of Garage Band for sure. I like the contrast between distorted vocals and the clearer spots. Strangely the mix is both dark and mellow, very interesting contrast.
Mellow but not overly mild mannered, thanks to the stunning guitar work. The live instrumentation does make it really breathe and flow beautifully. The only thing is I woukd have enjoyed hearing more of the hand percussion. Very nice work though, 5 stars and going on my favorite's list.
Very cool, but too short for me, I hope you'll bring us some more where this came from.
Interesting use of the drums, and I like the new direction you took some of the vocals in. Original and like you said simple, Very nice.
I really like how you simplified and made the individual elements much clearer. The feeling is both intimate and strong, very nice work. the pizzicato guitar work is exquisite.
Interesting remix and concept for a remix. It ends rather abruptly, but I bet that's the feeling of waking up alone when you didn't expect to. Fine creative work, almost needs a video to go with it.
Welcome back TM, it's been a while, except for Frankmixtein. Very creative as usual, you've left me always expecting the unexpected with your work. The bass around 2:05 really warms things up on this mix.
My surfing experiences are similar to yours, I used to love it alot, but now I'm land-locked. Your song didn't evoke the same images for me. It did feel like mellowing out on the beach at sunset near a campfire. With possibly some falling stars or meteors in the beautifully colored evening sky. I liked the fusion-esque keys, reminded me of Jeff Lorber a bit.
Very nice does feel more live and spontaneous than your lovely ambient work. I love hearing tunes from fellow basement composers.
Ooh I hope you get an occasional pedicure in that case Doghouse!
This is much more succesful to me than The Beatles white album lullaby. It also shows how multi-faceted and versatile you are. Great work, surprising and re-assuring.
Very original remix, the rhythm and the warp sync worked quite well together.
I like the open spacious feel to this remix, and the guitar work was a very nice addition.
I think RWR liked the strong real sounding bagpipes, just like I did. My only suggestion would be to reduce the stereo seperation on some instruments. It might make the mix sound more intimate.
The vocoder-ish voice keeps this song interesting to me, and I love how it changes notes quite a bit. Could of perhaps used a nice high spacey pad in the second half of song, fine work anyways!
I think this is the first mix I've heard here to incorporate lo-bit sounds so strongly. Sounds very modern and cool Schlock!
Very strong work Edmund, I especially like the arpegiating organ sound. The feel is funky and modern, nice work!
4 woofs from me for this one.
Really nice merging of idm and trance, probably some other style in there too. Really nice, especially for a rushed one.
Makes me think of the great ol' group, Homer and Jethro. Good, funny work there ol' doghouse.
Your guitar work is simply beautiful.
Very good groove to this one, the percussion compliments things nicely.
Good work, hypnotic and warm remix, keep 'em coming please.
Very nice improvements on the remix, the feel is really nice!
Good work as usual radiotimes, could've gone for even heavier, but still really good.
My review will be pinch short, because I told HM earlier how and why I liked it. I still feel a sense of Ocean waves being recreated musically. The keyboard playing is thoughtful and rather enjoyable as well. Also you came at the song in a new, refreshing and very intimate way.
Now doggone it, I've pretty much quit making ambient remixes lately, because yer kickin' too much butt around those parts. Probably the most cerebral feeling remix you've issued yet, the stretches worked perfectly!
Very good work, it is a bit reminiscent of disco, but the retro, almost industial sounds kept me liking it. I wouldn't mind dancing to this, but I fear I would dance alot like Napoleon Dynamite.
It's very refreshing again to hear you play a remix straight (so to speak). Both sections are really enjoyable, I love it when I get 2 songs in 1! I hope you "fall into a dream" again soon.
This is truly one of a kind. Very strong emotions and feelings come forth with this remix.
Very groovy remix, I really like the mutated sounds alot!
Amazing first remix!!! This stacks up well amongst many veteran remixes here at Realworld. The piano is beautiful rainy day music. The helium vocals aren't my favorite, but they don't ruin anything.
I can't believe this didn't get selected as a hot pick, this is very nice. The percussion is very well done and the synth bass is hypnotic. I hope you'll bring us more treasures soon.
The synth bass is very tasty, and the style is very unique. Serious and dance-able at the same time.
There is definitely a pulating quality to the vocals, very interesting. Reminds me of Kate Bush, which is always a good thing.
Very interesting, the extra vocals are unique. Also the drums sounded like a lot of hard work. I still love how you reconstruct lyrics.
Beautiful, it feels like a gentle stream. The intimacy of the vocals is really nice too.
This was a good idea, and well executed. The ouds really shine, and the double bass sounded great!
Very interesting glitch effects, gives the song a whole new feel. My favorite thing is that synth sound that comes in around 30 seconds, the one that is pad-like. Nice work all around!
I thought about your remix some more, and the heaviness is an issue for long-term enjoyment. Perhaps if you made this a 2 part song. One part to be very rhythmic and probably less full melodically. The other part moodier, heavy but less busy rhythm. It really does feel like 2 songs worth of material packed into one, and the heavy sections makes it easy to forget how great the cleaner, rhythmic intro was.
Pretty impressive for a first remix, it does possibly incorporate too many things in one song. Overall, I found it enjoyable though.
It was a very nice idea to bring almost all new instruments to this remix. It took me to a new unexpected place with this song, good work.
The setting feels intimate and spacious at the same time. It is a very nice strong intro and outro on this fine remix.
This is definitely out of the ordinary, which I seem to be drawn to. Kind of like an imaginary video game soundtrack within a dream.
Very nice dubby feel to this one, keep up the fine work.
The tense orchestral backing makes for a nice cinematic feel, as was eluded to before. Nice arrangement and mix.
Very powerful remix, with nice elements of softness as well. I loved the pizzicato instruments, almost like melodic rainfall. Very good idea for a remix.
I really like the way your bell synth transforms this piece, very dreamy and rich.
I really like the surrealistic atmosphere at work here. The lo-fi feel works well with this particular remix.
The phase shifted guitars help create a very nice atmosphere. Hypnotic but somehow still down to Earth.
I hope you neber know what you're doing because this was alot of fun to listen to. There was alot of contrasting elements that worked together quite nicely to create a cool jazzy trip out.
Well you've done an excellent job "twiddling" the knobs on this one. The 4/4 seems to work nicely and I love alot of the sounds you introduced here. Fine work all around.
It definitely sounds ready to hop right onto a fine remix CD. The production, performances and atmosphere are all excellent, first class!
This is a nice full remix, lots of surprises here and there. I enjoy the atmosphere and mixture of styles.
This shows a new side of you, but it still has your hypnotic atmosphere. Very nice work, keep 'em coming please!
I'm also hearing some similarities to Marillion. This is very strong and passionate remix and totally evokes thoughts of all the great art rock groups of the 70s to present. Even Ozric tentacles on the more modern moments of the song. I'm glad to hear you've been at performing music awhile (since the 70's?), because your' skills are extremely enviable. 5 stars for scope and skill.
Im like how you divided the song elements up and mixed them around, the song never felt too busy.
definitely very decent remix, keep up the nice work please.
I really like how it moves in different directions, great work!
Very impressive, I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said, just keep up the great work please.
This did make for very happy listening, it was fresh, simple and pure, I definitely did enjoy this!
I'm glad to hear how you arrived at the 5/4 time signature, because I was playing around with the idea of a 5/4 version but couldn't wrap my head around how to do it well. Good job on everything, keep up the nice work!
The chime pad was a real nice addition to the song.
I really love the variety of percussion and the panning is exceptional. It is also very interesting to hear what seems to be a bagpipe drone without the high bagpipe sounds. Nice work, keep it up!
Wow, this seems to be new outlet for your' creativity, and I can imagine dancing to this quite easily. I'm so glad you are back at the remixing again, you always take me some place entirely new and unexpected.
Oh Foofoo this is just woof-tastic, how many bpm or barks per minute?
I liked the dance vibe quite well, but my favorite section is the beautiful intro, with those gorgeous vibraphones! welcome back, keep 'em coming please!
How about expanding that intro into a full remix too.
This is very fine work, the sounds are quite nice and the overall mix is very full and original. Plenty of good stereo seperation as well, I'm impressed.
Very nice contrast between the radio transmission, and the dance-hit blast off. Very strong, trancey groove and yet very propulsive at times.
Nice rocking groove, solid and very dancable. You really integrated all the rich sounds so nicely, and very nice, unique drums on this.
Well you're in good company radiotime, and you seem totally up to the high standard. Very enjoyable remix, going to my faves list.
Welcome, and please bring us more from future coffee breaks. Startlingly good, especially for a coffee break remix.
Very cool, dark atmosphere. Like a haunted forest late at night. definitely going on to my favorites list!
Nice steady dance groove at work here, and really good mixing as well. You definitely took the original to new, cool places!
I've got to hand it to you, you made the most of garage band. I enjoyed the mix pretty well.
It has a strong, professional type of feel to it, and I like how it started out as if on radio.
I like it, the guitar effects are really cool, and I like the way the vocals sound, as well as the steady, simple bassline.
Really cool, and full of surprises, kept me interested from start to finish.
Nice and simple, short and sweet. I enjoyed the poly rhythmic feel and that extra percussion is pretty cool sounding.
Welcome to RWR, I enjoyed your first remix here, the hand percussion is my favorite aspect, and I really like the modern drum sound around 2:10 as well.
I really love the synth sound you are using softly in the distance, make this track sound really dynamic.
Really competent remix, especially for being done in 1 day? It wpuld probably be even more powerful with more panning and a warmer equalisation, and some new aural surprise in the last minute of the song. Keep up the good work!
It is very definitely experimental sounding, but I appreciate that I can identify plenty of the original in this soundscape.
Some of it is pretty harsh on headphones, really sharp highs. but at times an uncanny atmosphere is achieved that I really enjoy, the area around 2:10 is very nice. I hope you'll re-use some of the nicest sounds again.
Finally getting around to hearing some more of your work. really good mixture of styles and vocals, makes me think of Cabaret Voltaire in their prime.
It's very nice to finally have you back, and waht a great work! I wish you'd sell me a set of those robotic drums, seriously!
Very strong, impressive atmosphere, the sound effects sound so good with this mix, keep up the great work!
Tunamelt, ditto what Doghouse said 'cept I want some of those Special drinks you make, I think you called 'em Nuclear Cocktails?
I loved being a part of this and now I love hearing it over and over. I have never heard 80 kbps sound so good, you mastered it perfect for this format. I hope we can do this again before long.
I like the spaciousness of this work, there is room for the song to breathe, and it does! The ambient atmosphere recalls Fripp/Eno at times, and the rotating sounds keep it feeling modern. Also this remix was listened to when I had a Migraine and it is one of the few mixes that didn't aggravate my headache. keep up the nice work.
Oh shoot, I'm in trouble! You're moving into ambient soundscape territory, and did it so well. Very nice to listen to, but frustrating how high you keep raising the bar!
I'd love to know how you and Nobukazu get that vocal sound, it's alternately innocent and disturbing.
Really good first mix though, keep up the good work.
Very cinematic type of environment, the rich guitar work takes the original a whole new place. Very rare to have a work that's beautiful and scary at the same time.
Really clever and well done integration of styles.
Pretty impressive for a first remix, that being said, it would be nice to hear this go some different places. have more instruments come in as the song progresses or at least different instruments. Keep up the good work, you're off to a good start.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME AT RWR that a mix has reminded me of Stevie Wonder, it makes me ashamed that I haven't tried to bring that feel to RWR. The resonant clav sound is the clincher here, but everything else supports that feel as well. Probably my all time favorite of your' remixes LS, could you sneak me a copy?
I disagree with some of the reviews, the last minute is incredible, but the first 4 minutes are exactly what they should be, to my ears, to lead to that signifigant conclusion. Wow!
Thanks for hearing our plea for more real instruments around RWR, very warm, rich and REAL sounding. Very tasteful sounding as well, best wishes on your upcoming concerts.
I'm glad you used your' same formula for this remix, I wanted to hear your personalization of Salala, and you delivered! Keep up the nice work, I really like the new harmonies you introduced.
Nice work, hard to think of anything to say that hasn't already been said, keep up the good work!
Nice work, I like it!
I dig it!
Nice, simple clean arrangement, sometimes less is more!
Yes I have to admit the Birdy soundtrack will always be an influence. It was the first piece of ambient related music that I really liked, and it opened my mind to a new world. The film was rather great in it's own right as well.
Very nice atmosphere, rich and relaxing. But the drums and bass keep it firmly on Earth in my opinion. My only critique is that feels short and like it's leading to somewhere that it doesn't go, especially with that little bit of sound at the very end. Is there perhaps a part 2 coming soon?
The bass is the strongest selling point thus far, I'd like to hear the drums louder. The bass has more overdrive or distortion than sounds right to me. If you add some effects to the vocals and perhaps a different effect on the guitar, they will flourish more nicely. Very good start though, my first remix wasn't this tight. Last thing do alittle more panning of the drums and bass, I think that will help make it seem more full. oh and by the way, welcome to RealWorld.
This mix is so good, it makes me want RealWorld to put out a Compilation CD all over again!
Very nice remix. Rich, strong and entertaining.
This is inredible, the melancholy atmosphere reminds me of Robert fripp's requiem for his mother. The vocals remind me yabakazu Takamuru. It really haunts me in a good way.
As you already know, I love this mix! It really makes me think of Eno/Byrne songs on Bush Of Ghosts. The extra spoken voices are really a nice touch as well. Thanks for letting me be an observer of the process.
Very impressive, it definitely stands. and flies on it's own. Going into my top 5 and faves.
with envy
Incredible soundscape you've created here feels like ambient space rock. Id tip my hat to you in a second, if I wore one! Definitely on my faves list.
Takes me back to the day when Techno was becoming a force to be reckoned with (1990). Thanks for the nice trip back, it was fun!
The idea is so good, I hope you'll now make one where the spoken word is just another instrument. nice to hear from you again, and the wrods mean a lot to me.
Impressive roomy feel to this remix, space for the song to breathe, and a sense of being performed in a big space. some sounds are too loud for me, but overall very nice!
Very impressive, and a great variety of sounds, the Rhodes did make it sound very 80's, but I still really dug it!
This reminds me of the group DAF until the really nice kalimba? comes in. I like the industrial feel to this, really nice work. Funky and hard at the same time!
I mean double glad!
I believe this is the first remix here to use real Arabic scales. It really brings the cultures together in this remix. great work, very strong and moving mix, makes me doble glad you stayed.
Nice to finally hear this although I much prefer your next remix better. Fine work especially considering how soon it APPEARED here. The mix is a bit chilly sounding to me somewhere in the 6-8 khz range it is too loud for me. Still very impressive though.
Very smart to further elaborate on the multi-cultural aspect. I'm surprised this wasn't a hotpick, fine work!
Was this inspired by Simon and Garfunkel's Sounds Of Silence?
Very nice feel that you have here, perhaps too many ideas for one track. I'd love to hear you expand this into 2 longer more relaxed remixes. I still enjoy this for now.
You did a great job bringing out the best in the remix sample pack, nice strong remix! Keep up the fine work!
The atmosphere is stunning and uncanny in this impressive remix, good work!
very interesting and complex mix, I definitely enjoy it best from 2:00 on the best. Pretty impressive.
Very interesting, it seems to mix modern sexy dance music with a sort of early 80's romantic style. Kind of like a cross between Ultravox and Air. maybe this is what Air would've sounded likeif they'd made a song called "Sexy Girl".
There is a great feel to this remix, groovey and atmospheric. Good work, going on to my favorites!
Very creative mix!
Nice to hear that superb Theremin again, it really made the break starting at 2:20 a real treat. Kind of like getting a really cool surprise in a box of cereal.
The guitars sound really nice on this mix, very tasty! Fine work.
Beautifully symbolizes trying to keep faith in something during times of great adversity. I can relate all too well!
Fine work on this seat grabbing industrial strength work.
Very fine work, great use of all the sounds and sound effects. I just wish it lasted longer!
This is my favorite of your' Joi remixes. Modern, fun loving, but definitely has a night time feel to it. The bells you made sound great, and I'm so thankful that you either disguised or didn't use the scratch sound. too many mixes in this style throw the old scratcharooni in there, and it cheeses up a good dance mix. 5 stars and on my faves. It's like a helium leak at a good night club.
Very impressive, you have raised the bar!
This is going on to my faves, nice and hypnotic.
Very serious, respectful mix. What a shame this wasn't in time for the competition. it brings out the sombre reflective sides of the song so nicely.
Very nice chords and synths to support them, i didn't get a melancholic feeling from this personally. nice work!
The theremin was a really nice touch on the intro, and the break is superb. like stepping into an alternate world within the original.
Wow yet another accappella version of this song, but this is different enough to still seem new. I would have really liked to heard some realistic body slapping type of percussion on this. the hand clap sounded like it came from a different source than the voices, but otherwise really good!
I like this, you got a nice hypnotic quality out of the intro vocals. i like the new chord progressions a lot.
This is a lot of fun to listen to.
Very nice to hear you're back again! Clever mix of Classical, pop and Spike Jones. Keep 'em coming Mental Health please.
I like the idea, I reversed a lot of things as well on my last remix. You achieved a more hypnotic quality than I did, so congratulations.
I wish the fantastic percusion was louder please!
I really like how you got a speak and spell type of fidelity out of the spoken vocals, that's my favoriye aspect of it. Lo fi meets 80's? does that seem accurate?
Great Avant Garde / Dub Mix I enjoy both genres, and the sounds are strong as well as the production.
Nice hypnotic groove on this it does flow like something natural. The mood is strong, serious and thoughtful, and you improved on the sound of the original timbres. Five stars for this one.
I really like the dirty sounding Keyboard, and you made the flutes sound nice. It has a nice rich overall mood.
This is a lot of cheeky fun, and the funky bass line is a real pleasure to listen to. At least going onto my faves.
I like the beautiful tranquil place this takes me to. The song has time to relax and breathe and made me feel peaceful inside. The mandolins and piano sound especially nice.
Really cool groove at work here, makes me think of the better Elmore James movies soundtracks. I agree though that a bit more change in the drums, perhaps some rolls and snare fills at special places, would push this over the top.
That soft flut-ish synth voice really makes a nice subtle backdrop for this remix. It reminds me of the breathing mask sound on What's Going On by Marvin Gaye. The Bass is nice and crisp balancing out things nicely! A bit more stereo seperation would really strengthen this nice work.
I love the haunting rich pads everywhere, reminds me of Robin Storrey of zoviet france and rapoon. Bothe sets of vocals are a pinch louder than I like. I wouldn't mention it except that it makes it harder to enjoy the hypnotic pads. Nice spacial work overall, if you decide to tweak the vocals again, some vocal delay would go great with this mix! 4 stars on this one.
Very nice remix, the bass and synths feel very nice. Drums just a pinch chilly for me, but rather nice overall.
this is a deep remix and very thoughtful. Mixes like this can evoke a wide range of pure emotions. it does semm to start out somewhat mournful, then progresses to be more upbeat. Very catharcic remix, well done.
WARNING DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS WHILE DRIVING!!! I feel remiss in my responsibilities for not putting up that warning sooner. Thank you all for the comments. I have an antedote remix coming up in about a week. Sort of the opposite end of the spectrum from this one. DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY!
The story and song together make me think of any of Wim Wender's great road movies. Strangers often intertwine and become important to each other in his stories. So the meeting of this imaginary sextet makes me think of one of his delightful films. Very original without obscuring the sample packs, fine fine work!
mfus is right, you have such a nice feel going on here that it could last a lot longer without getting boring. Fine work and really fine vibe.
Reminds me of The Residents with a female vocalist. That's a good thing in my book. Also, I bet no one else is going to have the same feel as this.
Bravo Bravo, I thought your' original concept was so great that I knew it could stand tall without PG on it. It's an added bonus that you built a new arrangememnt, thanks much. 5 stars
I really like the mechanical bassy synth you're using on this one, I'd love to hear that synth come back on a darker remix!
I like the style of this and the sound effects, this reminds me of Warp recording artists in the 90's and that's a good thing!
The reverb almost gives a Cocteau Twins quality, but if that's what you're going for perhapd a warmer reverb plate would work nicer with those high vocals . I have heard The twins sound like this alot though so I bet that was the intention. Good work overall, It even ended similarly to Cocteau Twins!
It sounds like you were using a filter that has cut out too much highs and left the midrange kind strong. Other than that I really like this, it's hypnotic and rich. Were you trying out a noise or hiss filter on this?
Really creative intermixing.
This remix is what I have always hoped Pizzicato 5 would sound like, and they seldom do. Very light without being silly or cutesy, good work!
This sounds really good to me, Kind of like Curve in a mellow mood. I love it when electronica can be invigorating without sounding like dance music. You've achieved that well here.
I was getting ready to add this to my contest top ten and that apparently is not possible with this mix. So please at least give us a pure What U R remix with your voice. You have a great chance of winning this thing if you do.
Very clever and original remix. I thought the idea was so good that I still hope you'll put out a no PG version of this remix. I'd really dig an all Shock The Monkey remix like this as well. I hope you'll consider blessing us with those as well.
I like the strength and fatness to this dance remix. I love industrial music and I sensed that kind of attitude in this mix.
Nice crunchy sound and the strong guitar sound really helps this piece! I like the drums alot too.
Modern, fresh and crispy or maybe I should say tasty!
Good work!
This is definitely original sounding!
I'm glad to hear this get a stronger break beat added to it. This is a strong, distinctive mix, and the distorted Oud is brilliant!
Very rich and airy at the same time. Great idea splitting them up. This is very sacred sounding and pure, good work!
I second that emotion Poodletruck, great mellow remix!
I have to admit you really made this feel like a Peter gabriel remix of Joi, mellowed it out nicely.
I also really like how the song has plenty of time to breathe. Not too much, just enough!
This is lush and beautiful, the story is so romantic and tagic. Your integration of sound effects is as good as Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons. On my faves
This ambitious remix is doing so many things at once, that I can't think of anything to say about it. I like it and it reminds me of Enigma or Moodswings. You got a very enticing sound out of the female vocals, and that was my favorite aspect of this work.
Nice production and arrangement on this piece. I wish I could've given you some of the snow I've seen this year. Where I'm living, we're gonna have a white Valentine's Day because there's so much snow everywhere!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for not putting Robin and Barry on this. It would have been like a heap of Dog puke on an expensive designer rug. Perfect fusion of Funk and Jazz, and a definite improvement over the original work.
Thanks so much for the nice comments, it really encourages me. I should explain this piece is at least 85% Shock The Monkey. It has been stretched 13 times it's original length, so it sounds quite different. If it is played in fast motion, it is one of the more faithful remixes here at RealWorld. I do realize that stretching this song gives it a very different feel. I did want folks to know it's mostly Shock The Monkey, eeven if it doesn't sound like it.
Very rich and serious sounding, nice textures going on.
Very rich and warm sounding. I like the sounds you chose alot, and the tempo and pacing is really nice. Going on to my faves!
A very stellar and enjoyable atmosphere. However the slowed vocals make it feel kind of like the group Chrome. I have to confess I would love it more without the slowed vocals. I have a feeling my remix is going to have a lot in common with this one.
I like the feel of this, it makes me think of LTJ Bukem mix CDs. Nice work!
I like this, it's dark, lively and made me at least consider dancing. Going on to my faves.
Very nice to hear the original song turned mean and moody. I also like the sparse use of vocals, great work!
I like how this version seems to breathe more than the original, I'm guessing it's slower now. Anyways I think it sounds real nice and rich.
Sorry your ratings are so low, I think it deserves a 5 for creativity! Reminds me of a cross between The Residents and Chrome. Luckily for me I like both of those groups.
This is way too good a mix to be at th very bottom of the barrel (ratings wise). I'll give you a 5.
So LS, you've got me too darn curious to hear the original 7 minute mix. Anyway you can send a copy my way. I promise not to tell, if it's too naughty!
This is impressive and a great strong intro. Nice new sounds that mix well with the original elements. Thanks to Radio Remixed I finally got to listen to this.
This is very entertaining, reminds me of when Devo was at their creative peak. Also some Art Of Noise and Yello here and there. A lot of good weird fun, Oh and as it keeps going I think about Thomas Dolby as well.
At first I feel like I'm sitting in a dark examining room, kind of like an eye doctor's room. Strange colored lights are flashing on and off slowly. Then the room becomes like a sensory deprevation tank that slowly starts taking me to a harsh exotic land. Some sacred ritual is being performed and reaches it's climax when the song ends. Those are the images this fine remix inspired in me.
I love your use of the wave strings as the song gets started, and also the rich strings that come in later. Good work on this rich remix.
Very stirring intro, and then it really gets cooking, this was an exciting remix, ggod work!
This is a truly original idea, and the result is very impressive. I thank you because this remix greatly inspired my 2 newest remixes. Great work and of course 5 stars!
Thank you Essesq, but just so everyone knows, RealWorld did not change anything special for me. I just made a lot shorter excerpt like Loveshadow suggested on my last remix. It is 160 kbps, but it is only 3:49 in length. So I would hate for anyone to think that I am getting special treatment here at RealWorld.
This is cool, his voice really lended itself to a drum n bass style very nicely.
Thanks for all the thoughtful input, I'm really jazzed about it. I have made a version at 3:45 that I could upload at 160kbps, and a 4:41 version for 128kbps. Loveshadow suggested 160, any other opinions? I will upload a better version soon, and thanks again!
Ooh this is nice, it's kind of like the song is getting some Ovo-esque treatments, which is a great thing to me.
This is nice and eclectic sounding and it shifts in mood smoothly, good work!
This is a strong, funky sounding remix. The vocals are nice and strong to match, good work!
This is a stirring and moving remix, very thoughtful!
I saw this remix as a strong reminder that even during times of war and chaos, there are innocent children born every day. So I failed to see it as cynical, but more a startling reminder of that fact!
This a very special remix, the atmosphere is so rich and full and the production is stellar. 5 stars for sure!
Interesting, reminds me of the King Chango album that David Byrne co-produced, definitely warms up the winter nights around here so thanks.
Great work everyone involved!!! I found the spoken parts by Mr. G to be distracting, but once I get past that it's great! 5 stars
I commented on this piece before and apparently forgot to Add my comment. Which is a shame because now everybody's said so much already about this. I think it is nice to see the song given a very serious treatment. It feels as though you are listening to previous suggestions and responding nicely. Fine, fine production work as always, although I don't find it to be in a caliber way over everyone else here. I do consider you to be amongst the finest remixers at RealWorld though.
This is probably your truest masterpiece at this site yet, great (although tragic) work!
This remix makes me feel like I'm at a post-apocalyptic bar in the middle of nowhere. Drinking muddy radioactive booze, and enjoying what's left of the world. Good work Tunamelt.
There is a nice atmosphere and the electric keyboards sound cool and hip. Perhaps too happy for the lyrics, but I loved the feeling of the arrangement.
I really liked the synth percussion and harmonica on this!
Very creative and original sounding!
Sounds really competent to me, I enjoyed hearing this.
I just keep coming back to hear this one!
This is a very original remix, I wish 'd heard it sooner, going into my faves, keep it up!
Reminds me of early Moby, a bit too intense in the higher frequencies for my headphones, but good solid work.
Great organ sound, and it is funkier than I ever heard ELP get.
This is one of the best "first timer" remixes I have heard here, good work!
There's a lot of good ideas in this remix. The arrangement kept making me anticipate a growing drum beat. You might consider a dancier version of this remix where there is a huge drum beat as the song climaxes. It would be nice to hear more kick drums throughout as well. I like the arrangement otherwise though, pretty impressive.
A metal masterpiece!
Great work Thukol, it's compelling and entertaining. You seem to be growing by leaps and bounds.
It's very nice again to hear you going in more dangerous territory, but like Spinmeister I want to hear the longer mix.
Great work on this one.
Very strong, serious mix, the perfect compliment to the lyrics.
It's nice to finally get to hear a remix from you, keep up the good work!
I meant to say Funky not Funy
Nice funy tune here, I'm sorry I didn't hear this sooner, probably would've found a way in my top 10.
Are you referiing to the legendary Japanese warrior on your song notes?
Tuxedomoon, like The Residents, started out on a small San Francisco label called Ralph Records. Tuxedomoon blended many styles of music into their own form of both Avante garde and Dance music, they recently regrouped for a great album called, Cabin In The Sky. You should have an easier time finding them in Europe because they are represented by Belgium's Crammed Discs label. One of my favorite aspects of the group was their delicious bass sound and playing.
This is about the only remix on this website that I could picture on the Staalplaat music label, and I even aimed for that style myself more than once, good work!
Totally and insanely original, I bet we have some of the same influences.
Have you ever heard :zoviet*france:?
You really brought out the tragic elements of the lyrics, sort of like a modern Barber's Adagio for strings. I hope you'll reload this with more volume though.
Great intro for this remix, I like the rest too but wish the bass was hotter in the mix.
I really like the variety found throughout this remix, good work!
OK that settles it, you should see If Wim will make you a music video for this great remix. Or at least see if you can send him a copy of your remix, he would appreciate this I bet.
Wow, I was surprised to hear a semi orchestral mix with TL's great basslines left in, good work!
Nice crisp, fresh arrangement, I just really wish that great bass had more punch and volume in this mix.
Your bringing up "What's Going On" was a good argument, but that arrangement counter-balanced it's lightness with that sound that sounded kind of like someone breathing theough a gas mask. You've made a totally light sounding arrangement, I wish there had been something slightly dark or foreboding to add more depth to this remix. It is very hard though to put in a dark element that wont strangle an arrangement like this one. So I understand if you don't like that suggestion, but just too soft and sweet for my tastes. Of course the production is first rate as always though, so great job on that.
You really know what you're doing, I'm starting to feel like a jealous monkey again.
This is agressive, strong and as Schras pointed out dirty. I'm impressed by the strength of this remix.
This is a great idea, the lyrics are very dark so why not make a dark remix? Invokes images of really sinister ghosts or demons.
I love hearing field recordings in music, I don't know if you're using field recordings, but it sounds like it.
Ol' Tunamelt's at it again, good work showing creative, free and expressive side of the song. Doesn't remind me much of Residents, but the Bass timbre reminds me of Tuxedomoon. I don't know why but this remix makes me want to pick up a pencil and start scribbling.
Nice to see someone else using EVPs on a remix here, In my opinion this is your most gritty and dark remix, making it my favorite of yours. The "sweetness" I hear in most of your work is toned down here, and I love that.
Oh I'm sorry I didn't find this remix sooner, really grand scale work here. As a fellow Steve, I'd like to say keep up the good work!
Another great remix from you, you certainly know dub very well, Lee Scratch Perry would dig this I bet.
The atmosphere of this whole track is amazing, the sounds are great as well.
This is a rich, hypnotic remix. I love the wide variety of sounds on this.
Brilliant idea to inter-mingle the lead vocalists the way you did. I definitely have to vote this the sexiest remix in our community. Please consider fixing those couple of places where the drum beat seems to skip or miss a beat and maybe build the drum tension more as the song progresses. You will have one of the finest pieces here if you do those 2 things. 4 stars for this version
This is incredible cinematic stuff here, great work, 5 stars.
Good work Thukol, good to hear you're back at it again.
The rhythm track is excellent!
Thank you all so much! I used to have the mindset that I wouldn't change my songs once they were released. But this website has helped me to grow in new ways, and your' considerate advice has made this change much easier for me. I look forward to being here with you for a long time, and hopefully doing some collaborations with you folks.
really freakin' solid remix, good work!
I am so surprised to hear someone effectively turn this into a dance floor track, good work!
Very cool, rich atmosphere.
Cool remix, you really brought out a desperation in PG's vocals!
Very dark and imaginative, good work!
This is a superior remix of Little Axe, the mood is datk and moody. The new rhythm is great, 5 stars!
Incredibly creative remix there, reminds me mood wise of "We Do What We're Told (Millgram's 37)" by Peter Gabriel. I bet this would please the Tackhead side of Little axe. Does anyone else remember that group? It featured some of the same people as Little Axe's new album.
Thanks everyone for the comments, I have made some changes based on your suggestions and the song should be here in a day or two!
Thank you for dubbing out my brain
Impressive, and you know Skip was in some semi industrial projects in the 90's so it seems appropriate.
Nice experimental feel to this, and it builds nicely, and the drums sound really cool!
It's nice too hear more extreme experimentation at this site, so this is a welcome mix to my ears.
Fine work, makes me think of the brilliant Wim Wender's film, Paris Texas!
beautiful arrangement, but I can't say the vocal effects worked for me on this style of remix.
I love the trippy effects and sounds on this, it nicely brings out a different type of dubbiness than the original had.
Good job, you made a succesful remix of this track that is more dancey and modern than I would've thought would work. Beautiful organ on this makes it one I'll probably listen to again.
I still really like this remix a lot, and I'm betting it made the final top 12 for sure. Please grace us with a new remix soon please!
I keep coming back to tthis one for the nice modern classical feel of this. Although it just missed being in my top 10, I hope to get a copy of this some day.
Pretty cool idea making it sound like an acetate demo, reminds me of the early part of Wish You Wer Here by Pink Floyd.
Good work, you kept it really bluesy while adding strong, clean drums, the best of both worlds.
Pretty rockin' mix, and it's still quite dancable. Reminds me of Flashpoint era Rolling Stones.
Awesome sound, sure leaves you wanting more though.
This is a nice remix, I like the Clavs and voice coming across so clear. Then the modern clean sounding percussion, makes it a more modern arrangement than originally. 4 stars
This is striiring and very dramatic, and very respectful to the original.
This kicks butt, 5 stars from me!
This is short and sweet, makes me think of The Princess Bride! 5 stars
I gave you extra points for the tupperware percussion by the way, I think it was 5 stars.
Thanks tunamelt for the comments on my purevolume page, I like your work as well and am going to make myself an EP out of your purevolume songs to enjoy out of the house.
The ghost recordings were donated by some of the ghost related websites out there, I hope to record some myself someday, but those worked nicely. I'm also using some happier sounding ghosts on Nicely Chilled Monkey.
The record label my version of Bach is on is called Alia Vox, I'm not familiar with them are you?
Dagnabbit!!!! I had to throw one of my own remixes off my top 10 to fit you on there, but yours' is that good!
In my final top 10
Made my final top 10
In my final top 10
Made my final top 10
In my final top 10
In my final top 10
In my final top 10!
Really good work, I love the new keyboards on all your remixes, 5 stars.
This is great work, one of my new faves! 5 stars.
Beautiful synth pulsating gently in the distance!
It sounds in tune to me, and I like the modern feel of this, and how it develops and has time to breathe.
Good work and it was nice to hear a clav type sound on a remix finally, good idea!
Hey Mr. Melt just got a copy of Musical Offerings with Jordi Savall conducting, so I'll give it a listen today. Do you know if that's a good version or not?
I know this remix starts off sounding pretty random, but if the listener will get 52 seconds in to this work, they will notice a lot more structure and a lot of PG on this piece. I hope if they ever have time that Loveshadow and Essesq will try it again someday, there's plenty of structure and PG here!
Thank you so much for visiting mine and evryone elses remixes, you really helped make up for the low-ratings gremlins that are out there. Good luck to you, and hoping to hear from you again in the near future!
I can tell it would be a lot of fun to hear "The Equatorial Stars" with you sometime.
This is a very impressive fusion in deed, I hope it will inspire others to remix the other artists represented here as well.
It is happy, I'm glad I got a chance to hear this!
Thanks Thukol for the nice comments, I hope I haven't been abducted by aliens. Perhaps the nitrous oxide I had at the dentist's office was on too high.
This is really cool, both grungey and industrial, great work!
I love the atmospheric Rapoon-esque elements lurking everywhere, you found the key to this monkey's heart! I hope you'll consider making an ambient version of this as well, because the ambiance here is great!
I really like the laid back but mean feel to this one, great work!
I really like this lo-fi almost Donkey paint-ish remix, it's one of a kind in my opinion!
The very sparse arrangement was refreshing to my ears!
I love the sounds on this as well as the overall feel.
I love the rich ambient intro, and the rest is nice as well!
I loved that lo-fi bass sound buried softly in the mix!
This is terrific, I love the glitchy shock sounds, and it's still very dancable.
I so wish this had made it in on time, this is so futuristic and expressive, I'd love to have a copy of this someday!
I can't believe I hadn't stumbled onto this gem sooner, really excellent work. You've brought the song into more of an OVO atmosphere, which I love!
Thanks for the total originality, this site needs alot more of that!
It's like a brilliant collab between John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen, and then modernized by Squarepusher. 5 stars
Oh, I'm glad to get to leave your first comment! Your' 2 mixes have been consistently challenging and hypnotic. I'm betting that you like :zoviet*france:, Anyways thanks for giving us another one!
You have some great sounds on here, I like the feel of it.
Thanks for taking me back to a time before I was born, I'm guessing about 1962. The only problem is that now I keep imagining Gene Vincent singing this one, like on some of his last Capitol recordings.
I like the strength and passion of this remix, the new bassline works well.
Is it that Guitare that has that wonderful exotic feel to it? It's completely hypnotic!
This is really good, I hope you aren't too late on this one for the competition.
Hey Tunamelt thanks for the suggestion about Bach. Bach, Vivaldi and Albinoni are some of my favorite baroque composers. What is the name of the specific piece you were telling me about?
Thanks Loveshadow for reviewing my tracks, I feel much more complete somehow, I'll definitely get back to you, that sounds great! Thanks again!
My monkey tail is wagging! 4 stars for effort!
I like this remix quite a bit, which is incredible because I can't stand Disco. I guess I hear enough Stevie Wonder influence to turn my ears around!
You are completely creative, I'm envious of your approach to the 2 remixes I've heard of yours!
5 stars for the total creativity, I bet we have siniliar influences!
Sounds new and refreshing to my monkey ears!
I love the hand percussion feel to this, and the really spacey synth in the background!
I'm quite impressed even if it was from a seasoned remixer, this is nice and spicy for me!
Awesome, this is "trippy" yet very dramatic and stately in it's own way!
I love the funky yet ambient feel of this remix! I bet we have similiar influences maybe.
I like the atmospheric feel of this remix, and the title really intrigued me as well.
This is tremendously twisted, which I just can't get enough of, going in to my faves for sure! I bet we have some of the same influences.
This is one awesome monkey! Especially considering the short time in which it was born!
I love songs that meld many styles in one! We're on the same wavelength, me thinks!
I love the exotic feel of this remix, I found the beat to be fine for my tastes!
Great sounding snare, I really like the drums and percussion!
This is rich "hearts of space" music, and is entirely welcome to my ears!
Reminds me somewhat of early 80s Tangerine Dream, great work!
5 stars by the way!
i like the hypnotic atmosphere, and the fact that you gave theremix time to breathe and stretch!
This is fantastic, I can't believe it's not been listened to a lot more!
I have to make up a new word to describe this great remix, Hip-notic!
I'm shocked that you could do this in just part of a day, this monkey is envious!
I totally love the atmosphere on this one, brilliant intro!
I just have to put this in my faves now!
This is great, you're in my faves now!
I can't believe I hadn't heard this by now! Thanks to your contributing alot to the forum, I decided I should finally give a listen. Glad I did, the TL stick sounds really good front and center. And his voice sounds more emotional and desperate on this remix!
i love the third-world feel, string plucking, and of course, The Cello!
Very rich, atmospheric work on this remix, great job!
Excellent work, I wouldn't change a thing!
What you've done here is excellent, serious, modern and funkeee!
I like the harshness, I've heard so many remixes that this helped shock me back to life!
Ah, excellent! Now we have a ninja monkey here finally, meaning it reminds me of the best NinjaTune music.
5 stars
Dark, Strong and menacing, the monkey's on the prowl!
Great efx on his vocals, and great overall mix!
Very impressive to my monkey ears!
4 stars!
Damn, I think I'm glad you didn't have more time, because it blows me away as it is!
I like this alot, the drums, perc and voice are just right to my monkey ears!
This is excellent, I don't understand the low rating on this remix. 5 stars from me1
CAN was a great group from Germany, that mixed a bunch of different genres into their own crazy but wonderful blend of improvisation. They also had one of my favorite drummers of all time, Jaki Liebzeit. I'm not sure what to say about this diverse group, other than that they were great! I recommend their albums "Monster Movie", "Tago Mago", "Future Days" and "Flow Motion" but all their work is good!
Sounds more accomlished than much of Coil's work, so color me impressed and a bit haunted! I'm really glad I read your' review of pfm's remix, because it made me figure we were on a similiar wavelength. 5 stars!
You have created a masterpiece of noise and spaciness, I'm jealous of how much more beautifully you treated the wave pads than I did. I wanted them to sound like Frippertronics, you have done that perfectly!
I love the hypnotic, noisy feel to this song, I tried to do this as well, so I'm envious of your achievement here!
I love the squarepusher-esque feel of this remix, like one of his chill songs!
Very serious and strong remix, I love the synth or guitar growl early on.
5 stars, enough said!
great sounds on this remix, good work!
Great ideas building here!
Pretty great remix for having no time or regardless.
Very tasty remix, I love the synth bass on this!
Very surprising mix, craziness is refreshing here!
There's no where near enough Dub remixes on this site, so great work, I listened to it twice!
I love the lo-fi feeling to this!
That guitar is so awesome, great work!
I love that synth bass and 808 state-ish feel to this!
It is a nicely rocking number!
Coooool, this reminds me of Eno and Byrne's work on "Bush Of Ghosts", what a great idea!
So different from the stuff I've been working on and listening to that I really like it!
Acid space jazz, totally cool. I bet CAN would dig this remix.
This is by far the most beautiful piano on this site that I have heard. It reminds me of what a grand piano sounds like recorded in this special cave near Nashville (I believe).
I like the world beat meets trance feel to this remix!
I'm pretty impressed with the uniqueness of this remix, I've heard so many that straying from the original appeals to me! 4 stars
I'm not hearing the distortion he spoke of, I like the strong feel of this a lot!
Very dark and rich, great work!
Oh, I really liked this, I didn't hear any distortion on my system, this was hypnotic and dancable!
The drums are soooooooo tasty man!
Awesome stuff, very fat and futuristic sounding.
Very classy remix, Tony's bass sounds great!
Stellar production, not a huge fave though, but good work!
Very tasty stereo synth and kicking snares, thumbs up fellow monkey!
Gooooooooood work!!!!
Ooooh, you turned The Monkey into a cool Elmore Leonard novel soundtrack!
This song is simultaneously hot and cold, and reminds me of a collaboration between Nitzer Ebb and Aphex Twin!
The sounds are eerie and strangely sensual reminds me of Coil in an abstract way!
I do like this, nice strings and feeling on this one, the monkey seems to be on trial in a very serious court case!
I like it the way it is, strangely I don't hear any specific influences in this. That is a good thing in my opinion.
I love the random analog waves at the start!
Colr me impressed and maybe a little "shocked", good work!
I've listened to so many remixes that I enjoy hearing ones that stray quite abit from the original, good work!
Huge sounding, it's as if the monkey's out on the highway somewhere, but that's a good thing!
I really like the stop and go feel of this arrangement, there's probably a better way to describe it, but I like how it builds than breaks than repeats that cycle.
I love the daaaaaaark feel of this one, I bet Mr. Gabriel would dig the industrial sounds a lot!
Really good remix, I like the way it gradually evolves and grows!
Indeed your remix deserves a higher score, I'll try to help.
Your' timing is really good on both tracks, I hope my votes will help!
I like the sound of this a lot, hope your' justified dissapointment will turn around!
Very impressive!
Not mono to this monkey's ears!
I'd buy this fellow a beer as long as he doesn't follow this song with the "Cheers" theme song!
Oh so nice, it's as if a NinjaTunes artist decided to ebter the competition!
I like it, it sounds very competent and the occasional wild-life in the background is appealing to me!
I like the drums on this, they are new and cool!
Turning the song more serious does make it more palatable for me too! I like to hear the inclusion of Digging In The Dirt riff, someone else has done that here as well, but that's fine by me! The variation is refreshing to me as well.
I like to hear delay on his voice, like you've done here, good work!
Ooh I'm glad you did this! I've actually been looking for my Perez Prado record called "Voodoo Suite", and can't find it yet, so this helped fill that void somewhat.
Nice work, fellow Steve!
Cooooooooool, way cool!
My ear drums are getting a bit aroused, shame on you!
That 4.5 meg limit is a killa (it forced me to have a song or 2 at 80kbps), but a lot of richness is still coming through here! Consider this monkey to be impressed!
Dub mixes are too few and far between at this website for my tastes, so thank you for throwing in a pearl before this repentant swine!
I'm not sure if I like the lisp Peter seems to have aquired, but everything else appeals to me!
OOoooooh I like those sinister robotic drums!!!
Sounds like Kraftwerk is going to war! Then the synth keeps it from being too harsh!
The last voter gave you 1 star, what the hell?!?!?! Only people like Tammy Faye Baker deserve 1 star ratings at a site like this!
Like the omenous lo-fi feeling to this one!
Expert guitar work there, and a nice dark feel.
Nice huge feel to this one! Fatttttttttttttttttt!
Nice serious feel to this and such tasty Edge-like guitar riffs! The guitar riffs are also similar to Stephen Fellows (Comsat Angels), so I have to like this for those details!
I'm glad people are starting to use TLs bassline more prevelantly now, 5 stars for the TL touch!
The guitar emphasis is really nice, 5 stars for the guitar usage!
Probably the truest 80's feel that I've heard at this website. Thumbs up!
Stunning, gorgeous bass on this work. You've used the "Shock The Monkey To Life" line in the least irritating way possible for my ears. Great guitar too! And David Lynch seems to be lurking in that rich sound fog in the background synths. 5 stars (full earned) from me!
I'm not going to ask if you can rate my remix, mainly because anyone with a remix on here obviously knows how to rate other people on here. I'm giving it a high rating but partly because a score of 2 is grossly unfair! If your busy, DON'T rate my tracks please!
Sound chateau doesn't anyone ever deserve 5 stars? Of course I like smoking monkey's better than some people do! The truest reggae feel I've found here yet!
5 stars for freshness and a great remix name!
Five stars from me as well! Nice live sounding drums!
I like songs with lots of variation (like "Supper's Ready" by Genesis for instance). 5 stars for the variation on a theme! Stereolab does it all the time too, so it can't be bad!
I love the random synth-wave percolating underneath the mix, high score for that!
Synergy refers to the synth playing that Larry Fast aka Synergy did on this track. It's nice to hear it used more on this remix as well as a lot of Tony Levin's fine work! 5 stars because it deserves a better overall rating!
Puts the C in Creative!!!! 5 stars for creativity! I'm a pinch jealous, I was going for this busy feel as well, but you've blown me outta the wata!
Desrves better score than it currently has!
Sounds new enough to me, I only own and listen to 10,000 CDs though so maybe I'm still "wet behind the ears"! That is to say.I like it!
5 stars because it deserves a better overall rating!
I like the lo-fi feeling of this, it makes the monkey silly!
Very under rated, I'll try to bump you up some!
5 stars for you, but partly because you deserve better overall score!
I like the "off kilter" synth feel to it, it reminds me of Pluxus, and I own 2 of their albums!
I like your remix and I think it desrves a lot higher rating than it's gotten so far!
I like this and give it 5 stars, but don't listen to my songs if yer busy (or irritated by others saying "can you rate my remix too?")!
It is warm and open like the desert, but it has a nice oasis as well! Peter sounds a bit sad though, but maybe he hasn't reached the oasis yet! Still 5 stars for originality!
Surprising, and that's a good thing!
Glad to hear more use of TLs basslines, Tunamelt was right when he said that it wasn't being used enough! So 5 stars for lots of TL.
Hello from me as well, I like the originality here.
I like the 70's electric piano as well, deserves better recognition than 1.93!!!!
Desrves more than 2 stars, Leif Garret and John Travolta sometimes got that good of a vote on their so called music. I'd probably normally give it 3.5 stars but I'll vote a little higher to try and help you out of Leif Garret-ville.
It is good work, the monkey's having enough fun he doesn't care if he's winning at table tennis or not. I think this monkey's a winner anyways!
Good idea, I think there are a couple backing vocalists on his sample pack, but it's the only accappella I've heard here so 5 stars from me!
I bet Peter is a pinch sick of his own version by now, so I think "far removed" remixes deserve a better break than they are getting, 5 stars from me and I may try to fit it in my top 10.
Think it deserves a better score than this!
Desrves much better score, I like the big feel to it.
If your busy like I've been, don't listen to my remixes! This comment section is for your remix (not mine or Sound Chateau's)
It sounds pretty good to these monkey's ears! 5 stars because it deserves a better score!
I'm glad this is a cover, I love the idea of feminine vocals on this. I'd hate for Peter to have a sex change just to appease my tastes! 5 stars because, it's something new!
Tasty analog synth sound, deserves better than the score it currently has!
Bottom line, this song isn't given a fair break. Why does everyone have to put the vocals the same place as everyone else? It's more synchronized than a lot of Muslimgauze music, and Muslimgauze has sold a plethora of albums in his life! 5 stars for being different!
Brian Eno has said that he likes to think of his music as unfinished, and has written about it as well. So he would dig the concept of yer work in progress. Plus it's so Funkeeeeeeeeeee!
No complaints from me, I'm jealous you could do this in such a short time. I almost got pneumonia by over-working on my stuff, but you got something done in much less time!
I like it, and think it should get a better rating than it's gotten thus far!
I like the lo-fi feeling of this, I think it fits perfectly with that genre!
This is good, it should get more listens and good ratings than it has!
I love the spacey feel of this, kind of like early Tangerine Dream! 5 stars, because it deserves a better score!
Why is it rated so low? It deserves better than this score!
Some of the sounds are excellent! Deserves a better score, I'll help if I can! 5 stars for effort!
I meant "evolves" in my last comment!
Desrves a much higher score, I give it 5 stars!
What the f is up with that low rating?!?! I give it 5 stars, and a place on my top 10!
You deseve better than this, 5 stars for effort!
Anyways everyone, judge the remix on it's merits. Some of us music fanatics aren't good at public relations amongst our peers, I know I'm not! But this site is about love of music and remixing, I like this remix, and I give it 5 stars!
Oops I meant 5 stars, I'm a little tired!
% stars for effort in my book!
Just listened again 5 stars from me!
It deserves a much better rating than it's currently got! 5 stars from me!
It deserves better score than I see, hope my vote'll help!
Deserves a better score than this (1.76), I'll try to help, 5 stars for effort and ballsiness!
I really like how real most of the strings sound, and it doesn't just stay the same the whole time, it doe s build gradually. I like serious mixes of this song the best personally!
And yer score deserves to be higher!
Nice!
Mighty Fine work!
This is the only IDM mix I've bumped into yet, the monkey's feeling glitchy! 4 stars
Impressive!
This is my favorite of yer remixes! 5 stars
I like it! 4 stars!
Good work sound chateau, everything sounds nice on here to me. Reminds me of Moby on one of his serious songs.
Good funky work going on here! 5 stars!
Not too bass heavy for my monkey ears, good work!
I'm giving you a high rating for vast creativity on this one. This site needs to stretch boundaries as much as possible.
Nice serious feel to this remix, the monkey is feeling solemn!
Nicely atmospheric and spacey while still being dancable, nice!
This is nice work, reminds me of the best Warp records artists, including Tortoise at times.
This is the first mix of it's kind that I've heard on this site. So that can't be bad, the monkey is snickering!
I like hearing more "trippy" treatments of Gabriel's work, Keep up the good work!
Oops I forgot to mention that a Casio FZ-1 is being used by my nephew Dylan on the intro and outro of this song. The FZ-1 was probably one of Casio's least popular because they cost aroud 2 grand when they came out, but they were supposed to be spec-wise equivalent to the Fairlight used on the original Shock The Monkey. I like how Dylan got an Analog type of feel out of a totally digital synthesizer.
Brings Peter back to an art rock vibe by way of Pink Floyd and Marillion!
I like the sounds on here quite well, nice 90's feel!
We need more industrial in the monkey jungle, great work! I also recommend my "Industrial Strength Monkey"
Nice rocking riffs, the monkey is thrashing! I was beginning to fear that my "Industrial Strength Monkey" was the only hard one out there, great work!
Modern and menacing, like the feel of this one!
Love the contrasts on this one, simultaneously hot and cold!
Nice work on this, the monkey is dancing!
Great feeling on this, nice mixture of ideas here!
The monkey feels micro-waved in a good way!
A suprising fusion of styles and grooves, love the electronic piano sound alot!
Nice tribal feel on this one, also rich synth sounds keep it nice and warm. The guitar reminds me of Comsat Angels and that is always a good thing!
So chill the monkey is shivering, in a good way!
Stunning efx on the lead vocals, make this a real goody!
21st century jungle music that tickles the monkey red!
This is 21st century world music elctronica, that knocks the monkey's socks off. It's nice to hear people pushing the monkey's boundaries! On my top ten!
This is what the original would've sounded like if it had come out 5-7 years later and was co-produced by Eno, Lanois and Steve Lilywhite. That's the feeling I get anywaays.
If it's not bombastic maybe crash-tastic would be agood word for this one, but the monkey is smiling!
I f you do remix this bring up those tasty synth basslines please, the monkey is hungry!
Very chill, The monkey is shivering, but he's fellin fine!
I think the bass is slightly off key, but the vocals do sound really nice!
Hey any song that evolces is good in my book! Perhaps make a part 2 to this remix, I assume that would be a first for this site. Not a revised mix, but a part 2, you've still got some time.
For my ears this is as close to Drum n Bass as I've heard here, good work!
Great drum sound, the monkey must be going blind!
Best use of TL's bass line I've heard yet! You bring a tear to the monkey's eyes.
The monkey is feeling spooked!
Deep, dark stuff, I bet this would be one of David Lynch's favorites!
Nice to see the song made deeper and richer than the original. I bet Dead Can Dance would love this!
Suprising inclusion of Genesis guitar at the beginning, the monkey's ears are burning! Nice to hear some darkness aside from my "Industrial Strength Monkey" mix.
Something knocked him back in the trees, like the feel of this one. Keep swinging monkey man!
Nice mix of genres on this one, kind of Drum n Bass meets early 90's house. The monkey is getting frisky!
It would be nice if our remixes were put in categories, because I can't find enough great dub mixes like this one. I took a stab at dub too on "Shock Me Synthetic" but this one here is quite nice as well.
Nice nice drums, this would leave most monkeys quite ecstatic.
This mix is effective for shocking poodles too! Good, good work on this 'un.
Shock the monkey to death, fine work!
I forgot to mention that Mike E (Lost lots) helped out on this track. Much thanks to Mike E for his contributions to this piece!
This is well done industrial music that really brings Shock The Monkey into the 21st century. I was skeptical of liking the music, because I already knew it was going to be clever (Bush-wise). But even without the Bushter vocals, I would've liked this one alot! I just hope you'll make a retro remix of something, utilizing George Senior rapping. Maybe "Can't Touch This" featuring George senior.
Lost lots has made a remix of unrivaled conundrums. Sounds like A Bedouin wedding feast in zero gravity!

I have to like this remix, it has an ambiance I usually like to explore in remixing. It is tricky to make an instrumental mix of this song without sounding derivative of the Birdy mix. You have accomplished a completely unique feel to your mix, well done.
