HaveMercy's Favourite List

HaveMercy Comments on Other's Remixes

Liking this lots, please realize ideas fully. No rating until final remix appears. :-]

We're all cavemen aren't we, taking the poor sods in your video in consideration as well. Pff. Very energetic remix, totally not my taste but very well executed. :-]

After 2 minutes the vocals are too far back in the mix for my ears, but other then that:Yeah! :-)

Playful as ever :-) Hope you had a nice vacation. Too bad because of that 'space' your remix ends up on the 2nd page of the latest entries.

Like the keys and trumpet, cool voicing and great production.

I like that linear thing and how you played with the chords. Intens remix, all those tiny details must've been a lot of work.

Very tasteful version, i like the subtle use of the samples. You brought some peace in this odd song. And indeed; nice to hear you again.

Intruiging and respectful recreation. A bit lenghty maybe, but me likes anyway.

Nice one! I love the e-piano and the Levin-ish bass. Added vocals are very very nice, as is the timing of 'em. Them hotpickers were on a holiday i'm guessing.

I like structure and breaks and bass and such, but man you have an odd taste for chosing synth sounds. And since some of them are so overwhelminly present, for me they flatten the entire remix a bit. Not entirely convinced yet about the hit potential here. :-]

Great version, i love the space you've left as you did as well in your Not one of us-remix. The rytmical part at the end is very wicked. Remixes like yours make it very very worthwhile to drop in here every now and then. Thanks for posting this one, sei bravissimo.:-)

Geinig, een pijnlijk blije manier om iemand te vertellen dat 'ie er niet bij hoort. :-) Nice work, catchy rythm, tapping da feet.

Beautifull. I love what you add with your guitar in chord progression as well as in rythm. Bravo.

Agree: beautifull moments. Your coda is absolutely lovely, though that samplepack synth at the very end awoke me from the dreamy atmosphere.

I can imagina this one with a more present and somewhat heavier danceable beat. Nice feel.

Let's say trop joli then. :-) Very energetic work, and it sounds so simple___

nice one, very nice actually.

Great. The so wellknown vocals fit seemingly in your string pattern and don't feel strange at all in it. Complimenti davvero.

Like your basic rythm and slow background pads, but it's taking some patience to listen to the entire song. The vox at times seem to be scattered rather randomly.

Lovely and a very nice coda.

Nice playing, very credible version. The vocals fit very well in this kind of interpretation. Must admit that i listened through shitty speakers, but the snare seemed somewhat loud. And Cubase, well, i forgive you ;-)

Love it, very nice rythm track.

Who needs words :-) Mesmerising interpretation, had to listen more then once.

Waaaay to much talent in here. Really lovely version with an edge. In the favs and greetings from Italy.

Very nice arrangement, sound is great.

Great version, very focussed. Rythmsection is beautifull. To my favs.

Your backing track sounds absolutely fantastic, but to my taste the vocals don't match with it. So, 6 stars for your track, -minus 1 star for the vox is a total of errr.:-]

Not my genre, but i'm sure the dancefloor fills up with this one. There are nice chord progressions every now and then and many other very nice sound ideas and it's quite lively too, but that kick of yours is giving me a bleeding headache! :-] :-]

Love it, the bass is great. Jah Wobble comes to mind.

Nice beats! Timing of vocals seems somewhat of every now and then, but i'll blame it on Ableton then. :-)

Lovely version, nice laid back with this minimalistic piano. In all honesty, the distorted lead sound starts to put me of a bit in the last half minute, but that's just a detail.

I like this one better then 'If looks could kill'. Used sounds a very nice, not always fond of how you timed the vocals though. I recognise what you wrote about "near the end of a remix". That's where i usually find my most interesting parts too, just when i thought a remix was more or less finished.

I like the haunting atmosphere, nice slow bass and pad.

Hey what's this, a hard core meeting in Susy's chatroom? :-)

Ok, nice sketch, now upload your final. (and happy holidays while we're at it)

Love the soundl you created here. Not all sounds seem to be in the same key and the rythm in the vocals doesn't 'fit' (for my old ears) to the rythm you created. At the other hand i think you created a very nice and relaxing soundcollage and that makes up for a lot.

Very true to the original. Wouldn't have minded if your friend's guitar was quite a bit louder. From 3.35 on i like it a lot.

Nice sound ideas in here and i like the space you created. For my ears the vocals and music don't seem to be in the same key throughout the whole song.:-]

Very nice build up in a respectful (to the original) version. Love the silent beat underneath the 1st part. Despite the high tempo it remains a subtle remix - to my ears that is.

Loaded with very nice ideas and soundbits and the rythmical background pattern is great during verses. There are some sync problems (at least to MY ears) with the vocals. At 1.20 for instance, which repeats later on. Cheers. :-)

The first 20 seconds sound great to me, but when the beat starts you've lost me, for me it doesn't 'fit' very well, but that's personal taste probably. :-)

Sounds like a soundtrack for an arthouse movie. Wouldn't have minded if it sounded slightly less dry, but i liked this composition of yours.

Funny man, revealing his age. Very easy on the ears this one, good idea and i'm sure it was fun picking the *right* sounds here. Congrats on the hotpick too.

Starts of as a quite demanding remix but it pays of if you hang in there. I've read your bio and imho you succeeded in expressing your musical intentions.

Melancholic despite the energetic drive. I really like the background vocal sample rythm and the synth line is the icing on the cake. Great work.

Very playfull, overall sound is great. You have a strange taste for choosing some of your synth sounds though :-) Funny man.

Your love for reverb and soundstretching doesn't bother me at all. Lovely work.

ok, you had me laughing there, you silly Willy.

i LOVE the piano chords. I'd say it's at least a quintet though. One star per person. :-)

Allthough completely different Cabaret Voltaire came to mind, at least for the first 2 minutes, which is not exactly a bad thing i suppose. The 2nd part i knew already partly because you let me hear it earlier. Loved it then, love it now, allthough the flanger at the end could've been used slightly more subtle for my taste. Of course i'm a very subtle man, and an excellent driver. Ehm. Great work anyways, it has a fingerprint of it's own. Ciao, HM

Like it, as a score for some scary movie (for a vilain person as the joker or Hanibal Lector) it would definitely work.

Thanks Synthetic, Youyou and Tethia for your comments. Yes, it's from Sledgehammer. There's a small beat sample too in the 2nd part, but it's hard to distinguish i believe.

After relistening i feel some levels need quite some adjustments and that down-pitched 'X' should be erased entirely. O well.

Haai dich neet good, det is nurges veur nodig. Loat die troane maar goan, en as de ummer vol is geweun de volgende griepe.

Lovely sounds :-)

Fun to listen to, especially from 1.45 on until the end. Bonsoir a vous.

Great work, despite the monotonous (if that's a word) approach it remains a very vivid and electrifiyng track. Love it.

Lovely version with very nice tiny touches. And lovely to hear your voice too. I have a feeling one or two here agree with me on that, you little gem of this site, you. :-) And now let's see if i can pump up your average by 0.02 points or something. Ciao.

well, i think i just increased your average by 0.03 points. *sigh*

Very convincing work mr. p, i loooove the horns at 1.40 and he many details in it and love the guitars too, though you'll never find something similar in my music collection :-) And i forgive you for ignoring my little allergy for timpanes in popular music too. Quite nice to see this side of Oxxo.

Love the change of chords. I'll get back to listen through proper headphones.

Yeah :-) Very nice mash up Riz. Even while listening through shitty speakers.

Anything at all?

Well, you know what L-D: you're right. I was planning to redo this entire remix drastically because i'm surely more unsatisfied then you are. I could spend only some 8 hours on it before the deadline ended and for a slow geezer like me thats waaaay to little time. That's not an excuse, it is just the reason why it is as it is. Anyways, thanks for listening at all :-)

Proficiat! Well deserved recognition here at RWR. :-x :-]

Very playfull work. Funny to finally hear Hans, Lottie, Jane, Willie, Suki, Leo, Sasha, Britt, Adolf and Rico themselves. War on the schoolyard. :-)

Very nice effect, that guitar in the background. The song has a bit of a sad undertone and with a lot going on in the background i must say i like this a lot.

<xfactor-maramode-on> Sei veramente bravo, hai cantato bene <xfactor-maramode-off>:-)

Very nice version, love the organ.

Thanks for putting a smile on my face with this overload of great sounds in a -imho- very well executed version. :-)

i'd say *very* nice :-) absolutely love the intro.

Nice to hear you again Pegasus, with this energetic version. I love the Nursery Crime-organ there. imho you musically expressed the war-message more effectively then the original.

Very sweet and very focussed version. I'm sorry about Max and Beauty. :-(

Mix has a rather double meaning here, very very nice. Personally i never get tired with your dobro btw. :-)

Great version, full of very enjoyable details, a bit lenghty maybe. Agree to a certain level with L-Ds 3rd paragraph, but that might be caused because of my very very high expectations whenever i see your name under the Latest-menu. Haai dich good mien jong. :-)

Great stuff, very warm.

Cool atmosphere Susy, very nice and open. :-)

I like the speedy drums!:-)

Very nice atmosphere and vocal treatments. A bit short and i felt i was waiting for it to really get going. :-]

Very nice things happening in this march which depicts some dark event. Maybe the vocals or somewhat hidden in this mix, but for me the idea counts here. Great work. :-)

Sweet harmonies, i agree. Great work :-)

This one - like most of your tracks - forces you to sit back and relax and not have a quick-quick-chop-chop listen as i sometimes tend to do, in between things, always in a hurry. So thanks for having me sit still for over 6 minutes. :-) I love the carpet you spread out, very nice depth with these different reverbs and i love those strings in the intro and ending.

And where does all this productivity come from all of a sudden? :-)

Very nice rework. Seems to be more coherent then the 1st version. if i remember well. :-)

Very nice one, adding some strange notes gives it an eerie feeling. The organ sounds very nice to my ears. At a first listen i feel like there are maybe too many ideas put in too many different parts but the sounds you created are great, and i love the ending too. Ottimo lavoro. :-)

Very mellow, change some levels (beat) and you'll have another version. Very nice work. :-)

Nondeju! In short: a top-job!

(sorry to interrupt you here L-D)

:-) HM

Some sort of rough melancholy which i like a lot. It's a fiver to me.

Very funny placement of the bass. I'm sure there's fun in a lot of other things too, but it'd take a pro's ear to hear 'em all. Nice and stumping. :-)

The Dutch carnaval would improve greatly if this were the kind of music to go with it. Great craftsmanship here if you ask me. I don't know what's in the samplepack, but i have a feeling you added greatly. En dank voor je comment op mijn ehhh, nou ja, ding. Ben een beetje van het padje lijkt het, maar det gif nieks woar? Fijn he, een eerste reactie na drie dagen pas. :-] That's how it goes nowadays.

Very nice one, a very "own" atmosphere with those cut up vox.

Just reminds me of how an incredibly long time ago it seems that i held a good glass of Irish whiskey___ I'm very glad to have found this small gem here, very intense. Have a great Silvester. :-)

Prachtige remix mr.

N/HM

Lovely remix, makes me want to start a fire and cuddle up in front of it with mrs. HM. very very nice.

Very nice touch on this one. Likes.

Stops suddenly at 2.21, deliberately? Like the sensual beat a lot but i fail to hear the connection with Savara's voice.

Lovely version, light hearted with a lots of nice details and pad lines. Soundwise i'm missing the low end a bit, but hey, i'm a low end guy. :-)

Fijn dagje vanuit Italieland, N:-)

Every now and then appears a little gem at this site which may not fit everybody's expectation of what a remix should be, the ones with more heart then head, more soul then errr, no let's just say with heart and soul. Great work, the piano is greatly improved imho. Cheers, mr. S. / HM

Fantastic and incredible work. Too bad i missed out on this one 1,5 years ago. :-)

Tssk, used Notorious Norbert's guitar and i've missed this one! Great version mr. P

HM:-)

Congrats to you! :-)

Congrats man, very deserved. :-)

Welcome back here. Very sensitive remix, the slow growing in the beginning is really very nice. The last minute or so is my favorite part, very dreamy. Like you, old chap. ;-)

Up here for almost a week and no comments yet. Odd.

At times i hear beautifull things concerning sounds and especially the beats which i like a lot. And yet, there's something not connecting in your mix between the original samples and the samplepack stuff. Don't know what it is, maybe it's all to dense or maybe the key isn't correct or there's an energy or rythm clash between the two. Ask a professional (not me!), cause i think the ingredients for a great mix are all here.

Very playfull while being truthfull (is that a word?) to the original. The sound presence is stunning and frightfully transparent, must be that audio engine i guess :-). Very nice work.

Very nice building of great sounds and evolving atmospheres. Great work. (And you actually put in a pinball machine sound, remarkable :-) )

Most of the time you manage to put the melancholy (excuse my french) in between your notes. This one is no exception, a very comfortable harbour to be in. The light fingered key playing makes up for an underlying serious note. Well, my 2 cents. Combinations of sounds is indeed "vintage" but it has a modern feeling over it. Really really nice work laddy. :-)

HM/N

Way to modest you are. Sounds like a very nice remix to me with plenty of energy.

:-)

A true samplefest! Very very nice. :-)

You obviously had a good time doing this one, solid craftsmanship which put a smile on my face. It's so different from your other stuff that i'm starting to wonder how many faces you have.

ps. for what it's worth, i do not agree with the dutch lady commenting on your earlier remix of this song.

Thanks greatly for your time to listen and your kind comments, much appreciated. :-)

Nice jumpy rythm in the 2nd part, rich in detail, complex in layering. I'm very curious about the remix Antoinette is talking about. :-)

Shake your box of samples and see if a worthwhile composition comes out? There are nice separate parts but as a whole it's a mystery indeed.:-]

A true remix using only the samplepack i believe, (?) i like how you kept the saxes for the end. The breaks are just great. C'mon, do another one. :-)

brings me back to obscure bars in my blurry youth :-) very authentic.

now that was a great movie. love the dobro.

Mooi hoor.

Complimenti! :-)

Made me smile, very thought through, firm as a brick

Hearing it here and in your other work; i like where you're going. Backgrounds are getting slightly more daring and 'empty'. They only deepen the signature on this remix. Lovely work.

I wonder where this mix would've gone when you had Veuve C. also the 2nd night.

Wow Oxxo, another great one from you. Clearly i don't visit often enough.:-)

Very warm, great sound. :-)

Great work Max, wonderfull open sound. Sei proprio proprio bravo.

I was anticipating a beat as a special treat, and i can tell i'm more then satisfied. Damn you're good. :-)

Wonderfull and well produced too! (as fas i can tell, that is) Love the build up from 3.14 on. Mooi, een beetje speedy met een warme ondertoon. Eg sjoon! :-)

N

Short and shakey! Nice one Susy. :-)

Very nice open atmosphere with mainly original files, vox might have been slightly louder for my taste. Great work.

Very very nice one. Mellow, almost sad, great soundscapes and guitar. Less enthousiastic about the drumtrack, especially that (brush)snare. But all in all a great atmosphere indeed.

Agree with colab, a bit lenghty for the path you choose, but full of very nice ideas indeed! :-)

It is pleasant to me!. Rather credible rock version. The change at 0.23 doesn't seem to match the vocal line very well, but it *does* work however. At 1.10 and at 1.18 i feel again the vocals are *draped* over the music instead of one following the other. Despite the firm guitarwork its still a sweet version. Complimenti.:-)

Nice retro sound and and i think there are possibilities to work on it some more.

Sweet Ultravox, clever weaving of the original melody lines. :-)

Very entertaining remix with beautifull soundcollages. I love that descending bass line in the very last part of the remix. Congrats to you and Dr Dub.

Very nice reconstruction of the song. I like how you cut the vocals and the sound of the rythmparts. The continuous and loud strings are somewhat too much for my taste (soundwhise). At 0.36 its becoming very Gabrielesque, if i may use that word. Well done i'd say. :-)

Great remix, impressive sound. Seems like a slow starter first, but evolves in a -sort of- hypnotising groove. Keep them coming. :-)

Love it when it gets going at 1.20. Nice snare programming.

Very nice sound ideas in here. i like the parts where you give room to your guitar a lot.

Hey Rizkey, very nice atmosphere, takes me right back to some Duran Duran era. And, yeah, what is that whew-bird? :-)

Thanks a lot for the nice comments. It's a good feeling to see when a 'message' comes across.

C - yes it's short, i feel this version needs to be short, small, dense. A- Mikael made a big change to my original pianolines and also invented the chord progression in the second part, so indeed many thanks to him. TJ- I *toy* more with a guitar then actually play it. I allready have a hard time remembering three chords in a row, go figure. E - It's an 18-track (only) production, so yes it's sorta scaled back. I appreciate you noticed that. And pg-ish sound was not intended, but i'm afraid some influences can't be denied. - I'm glad the wide open character worked for you S and S.

Again, thanks a lot. :-x

Marcus Miller meets Joe Zawinul meets Greenhill.

Very nice one :-)

Beautifull, eerie and a great journey through sound.

Very very pleasant to listen to. :-)

Hi Andreas, hope you're doing well. It seems you do. Agree with LS, a classy remix, no (apparent) odd tricks, very serious and balanced. As far as i can tell :-]

Starts out as a very clever and true RE-mix of the samplepack, tasteful with a great sound. For *my* oh so delicate taste the speedy drums at 1.20 are somewhat too harsh. All in all, smart work i'd say. 4/5

Nice vocal treatments and a very nice Bronski beat-ish disco feeling. Benvenuto at this place.

Very nice, laid back version. Good idea to make an instrumental version.

Very rich in wide soundscapes, the sounds you created are candy for my ears.

Beautiful, i love the harmonies here and this fine jazz touch. Right up my alley.

Very nice sound, full and open at the same time. Nice work i'd say. :-)

crazyness and impressionist, i can see why people say that. It's indeed some sort of open soundpainting. Well done Tethia.

Just curious: how exactly did those chocolate stains ended up on your lingerie. :-)

Great work, open, firm, groove. Like it a lot.

Very 'comtemplative', maybe your best work yet. And yes, i do believe it can fly.

Happy holidays Pegasus

I Likes. Many christmas. Many many many.

What wide and delicate sounds you can create. It's like a having a hot bath or something. The intimacy of that trumpet sound works miracles. The only minor thing in this great work is maybe the use of the drumkit. Maybe the sound or what it's playing is somewhat to common for the rest of the song. But that's a matter of personal taste of course. At the end of the song i still take my hat of for musicians like you. :-)

Groooooovy!:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

All smileys aside: it's always a treat to listen yo your work.

After all this time___ Nice to hear it again, choice of sounds is not all my taste but they don't seem to interfere with the musicsal story. And finally another name shortly popped up while listening at 1.48: cindy lauper, but that MUST be a coincidence. And finally finally: do we know that voice at the beginning? :-)

Found myself gazing at the screen for a few minutes listening to this. Love the vocal treatments, the sparse arrangement makes it haunting as hell. Great work.

Clean and clear with a big sound, very enjoyable to listen to. Very nice remix again. For my personal taste i wouldn't mind if the strummed distorted guitar changed after about 1.40 or so, to change the overall colour a bit. But as said, just my taste. Great work.:-)

You what? You didn't remember, or at least forgot how to remember? Now that's just fine. Spent i don't know how many time on writing an in depth review of the concept track (later to be named final) and then months later you forgot or don't care anymore? Imagine the energy it must've cost for the other 34 or 47 or so people all together whom you've sent this concept to, to listen, think, analyse and put their heartfelt opinions in words. Trusting you would carefully consider each remark and actually do something with it. And finally all the energy that went in writing *this* crap. So, but now, err, where was i_______ Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do some html tricks in these texts, like bold or italic or colours or embedded pictures, or even a tune, a movie, a holiday on ice, a Budweiser or even a lapdog?

Fun indeed. I like this subtle synthetic layer over the main R&R part. The vocal editing does the trick i'd say. Sound is warm and wide and full. Ni-hice!

It lies with me, cried the Queen of Maybe

For her merchandise, he traded in his prize

Very nice to hear this one again. I'm to lazy now to check for changes since your previous version. Ciao, HM

Beautifull version Maxwell, smooth and easy going with very nice guitarplaying. Reminds me of some of the stuff U2 did under another name (I think Passengers or something). And i agree with colab to do some more with this using the Belgian connection. Check your email from oct 7th :-)

Congrats Ess :-)

Errm, dunno if you care about the stars but i accidently hit something lower then 5____ sorry for that.

There truly is a wtf-moment here, and at first i thought you spoiled it____ until the rest came. Love the energetic development in the 2nd half. Great work again.

A rich mix on a great groove. ery nice how several melodylines are layered. It's not so bad to have this rotting on your hard disk.

After reading some of the comments after having listened for the first time i realised i sort of ignored the vocals___ a very convenient way to hear only beauty i must say. And i heard A LOT of that here. The part starting at 1.40 is effing great. Sound of the piano is amazing indeed. Minor detail; the synth at 1.18 and 3.09 are spoiling a bit. Allthough still recognisable as your work i think i sense some change slowly developing?

I really started to like this one, after hesitating a bit when it started. The vox are maybe too much forced at times but at other moments you manipulated them very nicely. Lovely free feeling with this one. :-)

Since i somehow i always neglected Depeche Mode for some reason i throw in New Order of which the bass reminds me. After reading radiotimes and colab's comments i think i agree about not having reached a full climax. A mad drummer constantly using all of his cymbals might do the trick :-) Your sound touches are as always a pleasure to listen to and the overall atmosphere is a very nice one. (many many smileys here)

Delicate indeed, how you used the strings reminds me of Craig Armstrong. The drums at the end could do with more space maybe. Nice one.

Funny idea this pub-version but at times it get's stuck in chaos. I like the slowing down of the vox and the rest of the ending.

Sax, organ and touches of e.solo guitar are very nice. As a whole: soundwhise it doesn't convince me because of that guitar-clavinet (or what is it) and the chosen drumsounds. Like how you've built it up though. :-]

By far your best work yet. A maximum effect with minimal ingredients. Agree with colab on the timing thing which also for me doesn't work all the time. The background sounds are very nicely done and work seemless with the original samples. Now let's see if we can get you to shine at a number 1 position. :-)

Apart from the great musicality the timing of the vocals is quite special. Thanks for re-uploading cause it's so worthwhile. Some of the pack-samples are almost disturbing your music. Great version.

All these layers are waaaay to comlex to understand for me in one go :-). What i do understand (i guess and as far as i can tell) is that i'm hearing a keen musician with a good ear for daring harmonies and who knows exactly what he is doing. The uploadlimit truly is a shame for your lengthy work. Well, first reaction, i'm getting back later to listen again to be able to hear more.

Congrats on being part of an imagined village___ and somehow Von Triers' Dogville comes to mind. Is that funny or what?

Way to go DR.

I love the way you work. In the center there's usually the basic- or at least recognizable structure and you seem to move loosely and wide around it. The sound touches are right up my alley. Agree with wildnoise: it's too short! Great work.

Partly the slowed down vocals sound very nice and convincingly sad. But i agree with TheJoe that it doesn't seem to work for the entire vocal track. Maybe this Tolui had an agnel on his shoulder who could sing the non-pitched parts? Kidding, but a mix of the two could be___ well at least strange enough to try. :-) Piano and harpsichord melodies are great though.

(Uzbekistan has had it's own 'Gengis Kahn' and his name was Timur of which is said he was even greater then GK. For your health and wellbeing i hope Sevara didn't read your notes here :-) )

The piano does a very nice trick, a 1/3 feeling in a 2/4 bar setting (probably not correctly said but you get the idea). Agree on the frequency peaks but i can live with that. The sound painting is again very nicely done in a slow build up. The Wurlitzer chords remind me of Zawinul but that's maybe since his name is in the air lately, so to speak. To me they determine the overall feeling for this track. One thingie for me to nag about is that this same Wurlitzer seems to ignore the changing emotions in her singing and the song structure. I wouldn't have minded if they -at certain points- would have accompanied the vocals more instead of being a repetitive mode. But maybe that's way too far in detail, because basically this is another great track from you.

Nice blend of an in-your-face beat with soft pads and mellow synth lines. At 2.00 the groove is setteling down quite nicely. In general it's kinda sweet remix. :-)

Not bad but i'm sure you can do way better then this. Bring variety in beats and sounds more, build the song up like you are telling a story with sound, create some tension. I saw you did a STM too, will listen to that later. :-)

Did enjoy your efforts. Core groove is a very nice one, bare and dirty. Timing male vox don't always feel comfy for me. I think it's *very* worthwhile finishing. (Could be interesting if you left out as much as possible maybe as f.i. Massive Attack did sometimes) Again nice work from you.

Nature sounds are often a good idea. The vocal textures are nice but in some way it's not a homerun yet. I guess i have a hunch of what you are trying to do here, and maybe it's only a matter of (a lot) more space and clever timing. And welcome to this site by the way. :-)

I'm with FronZek, stunning moments even i'd say. Not convinced the rest of the track can live up to the musicality of those moments. :-]

Really love what you did here. The fast rythms are placed in a delicate and organic manner, really clever done imho. Do agree a bit on the break-remark, but i listen today for the 2nd time and it also stands the way it is. Max. score.

Love it. Sounds far more *etnic* then the original. (forgive me this stupid word, but it's short and likely makes clear what i mean) Since i lie it, it's too short and maybe i wish you'd gone deeper. For laying down this strong atmosphere i do you 5.

Probably i like the undertow part most, it sounds more personal then the (e.)piano parts. Love the space in here.

Totally believable approach and soundwise, well, on the highest level to be heard here on this site. As usual. Any idea how frustrating that is to some of us (i.e. me)? Oowz!

Great groove, not a fan of all synthesizer lines, but that groove really makes up for a lot. :-)

Yeah, real Jaco phrasing. And how the voice fits the jazz(rock) atmosphere is remarkable to say the least. Mister Z. would've been proud i'm sure.

Like it a lot. Disturbing, strange volumes, soothing pads and funny snippets. In a way almost beyond 'conventional music.

Please, when you have reworked version put it up here again. I might give it twelve stars or something. I'm halfly blown away and i'm waiting to be blown away completely.

HM, who was a teen once, long time ago.:-)

Full of very nice details and changes. I *love* that sax in there.

The bass is just great and so are all the treatments on the vocals. In itself i love that doublespeed drumming (very well done by the way), but to my personal taste it clashes somewhat with the rest of the song. Nevertheless a very worthwhile take on this song and kept my interest throughout.

Funny mistake. I like Putin better too. In a way. :-)

Very very nice version, i love how you build it up. The lowered voice's sound is very beautifull, but it's becoming a bit like sirup, it 'draws' a bit. I don't find it very odd, i find it very personal. Finally: i love that 'Slipperman' synthesizer. :-)

Full score from me.

Lovely piece, at 1.06 and especially at 2.12 it's stunningly beautifull. On the contrary to other comments above i'm not convinced about the sound of the kick and rim. Thank heavens for differences in taste. :-)

Thanks a lot for all your kind comments, didn't really expect this____ :-)

Probably the most delicate version yet. Your chord progeressions are an eye-opener for me and are a display of your understanding -as i say it - of music. Great work.

The beat is great and so is the sweep. The spacey approach in the 2nd half i like a lot. Agree a bit with colab about how the beat and the vocals seem to have difficulty at times collaborating fully though. And - in answer to your remark at my mix (thanks for that btw) - despite the happy beat there's still melancholy in this one. I happen to love melancholy in music.

The sound of it is just great. Very tranquil following the long old silk road going from one caravan serail to the next. Is for instance the tom sound from that EZ Drummer? Sounds fantastic.

After reading your intro i was expecting after 20 second or so somebody opening a door, chatting with the drummer, tuning his instrument and start playing, and a bit later the door opening again for the pianist. Same story, Savara meanwhile keeps on singing. She can be soooo serious sometimes :-)

What's your poison lately RT? Just curious, i don't mind at all 'cause i had a great trip just now. Hotdamn.

Agree on the MOCCO comment, master of chill. The string touch is a very nice one, wouldn't have minded if you'd taken that 'suggestion' further (of course i have no clue how). Nice rythm patterns too.

(So this is what you get when you change from Pinot Grigio to cognac. What would ___ let's see errr ___ a couple of Martini's do to you? :-)

And that makes three. Very convincing dark work and i love the big (bass)-sound you created here. Keep 'em coming.

Very nice soundscape. Love that leadsound you created. Stumbled over that timing thingie too but it's easily to overcome. I wonder what would happen if you go further on this experimental road. Great work and underrated as far as i'm concerned. Let's see if i can fix that a bit ______ :-)

Good build up and i LOVE the sound of that bass. Sevara will surely not be the only one who'd love this.:-)

Nice unexpected moves! Don't know if you found a pop song, but you did find a great full and at the same time open sound. Very nice.

Very nice piano and musical atmosphere but hotdamn that kick is loud! Costs you one * :-]

Beautifull. Esthetical melancholy.

Seeing your name under 'Latest' already brings a smile to my face. It stayed there for 3.33 minutes. Don't worry about the word 'predictable' too much. It can be a necessary quality sometimes and to my ears really at least 90% of what can be heared on this site is more or less predictable. No offense to the colleagues intended. Back to this remix: i never was on Ibiza, but somehow i just went there. :-)

No comment, just 5*

Great sounds indeed. It seems (imho!) to withhold until the last minute or so when the drums kick in. I wouldn't have mind if that happened earlier. Nice one though. :-)

Great remix and a REALLY great intro.

This is bloody great. Added a great feeling to it with the added rythms and sounds. The first 40 seconds do not live up with what follows after that imho. Max score.

Beautifull version, especially the 2nd half where it goes on and on and on. After having heard the entire thing twice it almost seems you were in a hurry to get past the 1st part. Great work, great guitar playing.

Lyle Mays. A name i wanted to mention earlier because he'd have chosen exactly that synth brass sound. Maybe. Maybe not. What great harmonies.

I love the space you left in the mix. For me it's very difficult to use seemingly little sound. Well done Susy 123 :-)

Love the vocal treatment and how you cut her vocals. It seems to emphasize on the woman's drama, you took the lyrics more serious maybe then in the original version. The deep beat is just great. Full marks.

It's like a tangram puzzle where different combinations can result in the same solution. Funy to see how 'misplaced' samples can result in this version which keeps a good deal of the original feeling. Nice one.:-)

Powerful but short indeed.

omg, LS scored a 'hotpick'___ and about time too. This version is standing firmly on at least two legs. Benson does come to mind and i don't think that's a bad sign at all. Lovely guitar work. :-)

Well worth the wait. I love the feel the chords create and soundwhise to me it's just great. Very very well done Maxwell :-) Heard of Greco di Tufo before, not quite sure what type it is. Yet.

I love this. Wide open and full of warmth.

Good first-ever remix! Inventive use of the samples, not too 'difficult' in sound and (good for you) less bombastic then the original. I.m.h.o: well done. :-)

This is an approach i can totally relate to. Seems like there's some form of destruction in it which i really like, 'honest' guitars and bass with vibrating harmonies. The sparse use of the original vox seems like a good idea to me. And haunting it is indeed and powerfull and very personal. Bravo. :-)

Congrats Andreas on this remix. Musical 4M3 expresses quite well what my thought were, about having built something which is easy to the ears, at least to mine. I think if you can get to this 'peace' after throwing away weeks of work it was worth throwing it away. And imo throwing away your own work is an essential part of the learning curve. So yes, i agree with your daughter. :-)

Chapeau for daring and doing a piano-only version. Very effective with beautifull chord progressions and in all its soberness it seems to be more inviting to listen to then the original. And you use only the piano____ A master of the trade i'd say. Cheers man, as LS said: outstanding.

And now i'm very curious what you sound like when you jumped outside the box. :-)

You are a crazy man. Very convincing atmosphere, like a lot the New Order-ish sounds. Cinque points d'Italie! :-)

You've investigated this piece quite thoroughly by now. This is your ninth remix of Salala which made it to your 'upload-criteria or -standards'. I'd like to consider this one the fourth panel of a work you did. Deep Sleep, Shallow Slumber and Comfort Zone are the first 3 versions, this one seems to combine elements of the former three. Eeventhough you said it was resting on your HD and you apparently didn't intend what i just wrote above. Never mind that. It's another beautifull version, with that typical space inside. Personally i'm slightly less fond of the drumtrack here. For me it misses the *air* or *space* the rest of the sound has. But that's me. The sound of a snare alone can kill an entire song. Therefore, since i suspect you finished delivering your Salala goodies here: of this total range of 9 i'd turn into humble gratefulness to possibly maybe being at the receiving end of the transportation of the full blown high res version of Deep Sleep, in order to drag it on to my ipod. If you catch my drift. Cheerio, HM :-)

Creative, i like the rythmtrack a lot. I agree that the vox could have an extra pinch of volume. Nice soundtreatments as well.

Very 'folcloristic' (is that a word?) version and lovely choice of instrumentation. Personally i could do with a quarter of the reverb used on that bodhran though :-)

I do like the basic rhythm for this mix, somehow the vocals seem to fit. The chorus works nicely. It reminded me of Billy Jean too the first seconds. There's not much developement while the song continues which costs you one star (i'm nice). 4 left. :-)

(them's windows stuff___ can't use it. sorry for polluting this page, your pm function is off or 'im just blocked. well. :-))

Very nice blend master L. You even slipped 'All my lovin' phrases into this version.

Not subtle, nor shy and neither delicate, just a full blown stack of pumping sound. Hotdamn!

Love this sound and the reconstructed rythm, easy going with a full bass. Maybe not so much happening along the way, but i suppose it's the way this type of remix needs to be. I'd say: well done :-)

Nice bass indeed! The organ at the end isn't bad either. :-)

Nice brass here. :-) Unplanned some people associated one of my remixes (Route666) of this song with funeral brass and New Orleans. Dunno how these 'connection things' work, but it seems there is one here. Like this remix better then your other one btw. Cheers, HM

You see how odd taste in music or sound is. Yes this one is probably taking the piss and it's also probably waaaay off, but for me to listen to this, with all it's defects maybe, remains more interesting then listening to at least half of the other 'Stormy haily' remixes. Call me a fool, i'd gladly accept.

Inventive, creative, rich. I don't 'get' the jet sound, but it does sound nice and dirty though. I'm already glad in don't live were you are :-)

Heavier, dirtier and an extra bucket of swing and you're close to a Tackhead version. Skip might like that. :-) Nice work.

Awesome and effective free interpretation. Too short though.

Very nice one, and i like the added fx. Maybe not 'spectacular' if that would be necessary at all, but very tastefull crafted i'd say.

The refrain sounds like it has always existed. Very nice one.

Echo LS' comment. The background vox are hilarious and i actually like that at times 'tacky' sound. Glad you mentioned "Goodnight Little Angel" above to put this one more in to (your) perspective. Fantastic version.

The 1st remix i hear with a real drastic change in telling the story, mainly due to that de-humanizing vocoder. i likes.

Lovely tune colab. When i heard the first choir part it disturbed me a bit because it sounds somewhat harsh to my ears. But then again, leaving the choir out is probably not an option either, right?

What i really like about your version is that the music is really following and supporting the storyline. Very imaginitive and as usual a pleasure to listen to your sound painting. 5 easy.

Chords and sounds sound very cool to me. However when i heard this the first time i had to think about a comment once given on a -i don't know which- STM-remix, like someone used a song he/she already had and threw over the vocals, apparently negelecting the fact he used different and not so very well matching keys. A 2nd listening helps a lot already and i can really appreciate this version. (The question rising then is of course: do you need to listen to a song twice before being able to appreciate it? I'd say yes.) Santosi has a point i think when he says some people can handle 'off' harmonies or atonal music better the others.

Lovely tune Riz, now it almost seems it isn't just about another sleezy one night stand :-)

What relief when the beat starts at 1.26! I agree with you the intro is too long, BUT at the other hand: it's worth the wait. It feels like some sort of liberation when the kick get's in ____ and after that it's too short ___ so, no kudos :-) Kidding.

Lovely and pure version, imho more convincing then the original while all you do is tell the story. Great work which deserves a mac score.

Good one and nice idea. Like especially what you did under the male vox.

Agree with colab a bit about putting more of you in the remix, but besides that i find it really a very convincing start. :-)

From some 2.50 on i think it's brilliant. Love how the rythms develop between bass, guitar and drums.

The part you did is stylewise ok i guess. But to my taste the atmosphere clashes somewhat with the original vox.

Yup, i would've guessed it was you if you'd published it under another nick. Very nice atmosphere, great chords, i like the music better than it's title____ And errr___ rather true to a conventional song this time, init?

Agree with the above: very nice music you made here. You're the first one i listen to who didn't keep the storyline intact, but i think leaving out the male vox here is - for your music - a very smart thing to do. Max. score

I was going to give you 5 stars for your name only, but then decided to actually listen to your track. It will still be 5 stars. Nice one!

oops, my fault, i'm not going to explain how silly i have been :-]

There's something funny going on. I heard the ending in three different ways. The counter stops at 3.03 and then at times continues with a bit of heavy STM, pauses for a few seconds and goes on again___and again___ or is it my browser?

That sure was fun! Great sound, great ending.

What else is there to say, a very powerfull version, great work. I'm very curious about that 1st attempt as well.

Very very very very nice. I'm melting with mellow brass like that.

Nice guitar here. The timing of the vocals is at times somewhat off for my taste. The atmosphere seems good to me, albeit somewhat mechanical with the never changing drums.

Not interfering to much, just a little. :-) Great 'tune' and great guitarplaying. My fav part starts at about 1.50, love how the rythm pattern developes with the voice some 20 secs later. Great work :-)

Agree about the vocal timing, at times it's too far off for my unexperienced ears. The underlying music however is quite imaginitive. And welcome at RWR :-)

Very nice atmosphere in this one, nice choice of sounds and arrangement. The only tiny thing which for my ears wasn't as perfet as the rest is when the vox come in at 0.40", but that's a detail in the entire song.

A roaring bass, veeeery nice :-)

Tres tres bien, i would never ever buy something like this but it's done in a great way i think. The vocal cut up is great. May i quote you from several comments you left at some of the other remixes here : :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) etc etc. It's a fun track, inventive and creative imHo. Oh, and did i say :-) :-) :-) :-) already?

Good to 'see' you again here Bitley. Very entertaining piece, i could dance to this. If i could dance. :-) And good luck with your 350 ghz machine.

wtf! :-)

funny man.

Very nice atmosphere i think, nice editing, crispy sound. Agree a bit with Fien:D about the 3 minute thing.

Nice drumtrack, my head was eaten by that sub bass in there, nice :-). Not sure if i find the vox sound very well integrated, personally i'd like to hear a crispier sound with a drumtrack like yours. Four.

Great interpretation, love the 'sounddesign' if that's a correct word here. Nice how you kept the original ingredients in the background. Piano isn't disturbing to me at all. Fiver.

Nice one DJ, voxmanipulation at times is too funny and distracting. Big almost agressive energy, i likes. :-)

Great rythmtrack and nicely constructed. I have a (very personal of course)allergy for the string sound you choose to start this song with and which continues, but that's well made up for later on. Great pulse indeed, keeps walking. :-)

Many nice key, guit and synth things going on, very nice atmosphere. Love the chosen beats.

Meine Internet-Reisen bringen mich wieder hier, und ich sehe mahl nach ob wass ich lange her schrieb noch immer steht. Also, nicht ganz___vielleicht. :-]

Hoezo, welk feest? Ik weet weer van niks he, zal je altijd zien____zucht___

Blijft een echt gave mix hoor, dun dizze. Hoie, N

Made me smile. :-)

Too ba dyou're late. This one would definitely be in my top five. Love the sound a lot, the pads, chords, percussion, some distorted background 'thing'. Great great work, both firm and delicate.

Very well crafted i thik, using only the given material. Sounds very nice layered at times. I like that - what i call - 'walking bass' at the end.

The sound idea is great imHo. Sound execution could be developed further maybe (and look who's talking, errrm). Nice and obscure.

Forgot how the original sounded, i do like this one. Kick is somewhat heavy for my taste, nice use of the bass synth.

Enough very nice elements in here to go on with it and refine it imo. Could work out very danceable and with a good tension.

Nice rythms indeed and with only bass and one sparsely used synth tone without other melodic instruments, kept me listening throughout. Well done i'd say. :-)

The intro sounds fantastic to me, the change of rythm after that i found somewhat difficult to understand. I like the weird fretless bass later on. A lot of hard work in here with a great result.

Must agree strongly with your own remark about the restrictive upload size. This one and a lot of the other remixes here is way to good to suffer from a rule like that and deserve better, also because of al the energy and time spent on them.

Full of great ideas this remix. I agree with the above commenst that sublimising your ideas in a shorter version could (for my taste) make it more of some sort of dance-bomb. But this remark won't cost you my stars. Max. score - HM

Your best one yet imHo. I really like those textures and the vox editing. Curious to know how it'd end up when you've finished this.

Tuna this is great, things happening constantly over the simple boom-tsjak rythm. Very atmospheric. Sure you're not affiliated with Jah Wobble? The 'stumbling' rythm at the end disturbs but fits. Didn't expect anything less from you.:-)

My brother was in a band like this once, but they weren't this good. And they didn't have any celebs in it either. You're a lucky man Doghouse. :-) Great, just great.

Very nice version. Specially like the background repetitive-ish carpets u use, beautifull sounds really with enough variety throughout the song.

Great one mr. S. When i was on those highways once it was february and 'dang' cold, so i pretend i'm cruising the hills here in Veneto and i pretend my ugly vw is a convertible. :-) Great wide mood, very open, nice sounds also of the drums. Agree with colab on the 2.08 break with the vox having - at least for my ears - some sort of harmony-clash. But who cares about those ears. Max score.

Someone at the art academy explained to me once how an abstract painting from a student there wasn't only judged or evaluated as a whole, not as just the big picture, but was looked at closely. So every square inch is evaluated closely, every inch counts. In this (and other) remix of yours you took care every inch has been taken care of, constantly ongoing nice things pass by and paint a beautifull picture. You know your paint and you know your brushes.

As i told you already; you are one of the very very few here who set high standards on different levels. Return presto ok?

Very promising details and nice idea's. The clash of the rock break and the delicate rhodes from the samplepack work for me :-)

Very sweet one and inviting to sing along with (which i did!). Beautifull pads and tasteful guitar. Nice harmonies, which at times are really surprising.

Hopla, 1st place in this weeks top 20 and deserved too imHo. Mooi man. :-)

Nice atmosphere, however i personally find the connection with the very powerful 'Biko' and what it stands for maybe not completely matching.

Haunting and hypnotic. Very nice one.

Very very nice atmosphere. To me your rythmtrack is very much leaning towards free style jazz drumming but you have those standard drumsounds (which i'm not to fond of, a matter of taste of course), so I'd love to hear your music with live and free drumming. I love that piano.

Nice and very warm approach. The sweet strings are excellent imho. 5* easy.

A mean mix, it's biting. Pas mal du tout mon chere.

Great remix McC, the drumtrack is awesome. I'm guessing it's a sample cause i can't believe someone playing cello like you do can (program) drum(s) that way. Please, for my sake, tell me i'm right. :-)

As far as i know Bluegrass (which i don't, apart from Alison Krauss, but let's not mind that), so as far as i know it, this sounds like a great job. By the way, did you know they serve great wines here in Italy?

All i can offer after all these comments are a handfull of stars. Deep respect for how you did this, great musicality and a good groove.

See Es, that's the great thing we have in common: we both know nothing, so we're totally FREE! How's that for a starting point? :-x

Great rythm Oxxo, really very nice for my ears this one.

in

this/dis

place

:-)

Nice remix, sounds 'dry' and open. Nice idea to emphasize carefully on seperate parts.

Nearly missed this one! Energetic work Thukol, lot's of great ideas and very different from your other work. Especially like the speedy second part, makes me moves my arms in strange ways! :-x

Glad you're taking a break, cause my fav-list can't handle an overload.

Great track, i hate the word but it is very 'chill' indeed.

Greatly agree with Colab. To me it seems like a 'sound collage' rather then a musical piece which you can more or less naturally follow even with the story behind it. BUT: the soundscapes you made in here are very very nice ones with real evocative moments. Your "artsy way of copping out" isn't really copping out i'm afraid. The path you are choosing now to me seems far more difficult then (more or less) sticking to song-structures. Bravo for your great great improvement again. Nice drumtrack LS. :-)

HM

Sweeter then honey and i do like it. The solo synth is veeerry nice. I know nothing about surfing so for me this one was able to turn out as some sort of lovesong. I guess it is maybe, in a way.

Very nice melody lines, i like this a lot, great wide atmosphere.

So, if we'd work together again, could we all see another one of your remixes coming. If that's what it takes_ _ _ A great version, very hypnotic, very imaginary moods. I have to listen again on 'real' headphones when i'm home again instead of those sennheiser in-ears who seem to have passed their expiry date.

Wait with those restraints please LS, i'm to curious to *hear* what the effect on you might be. 'Cause it's true people, i've been a pain.

:-]

Great how you kept it so open, seamingly simpel and true to the original feeling.

The music you made is beautifull (as always), very nice atmosphere and use of sounds which i happen to like a lot. But, my first 'but' regarding your music, for my taste the salala-choir seems out of place soundwise. This almost also goes for AK's voice. Nevertheless, again a great remix.

iPod-tip: Punkt, 'Crime scenes'

Great mood, very open. A 'trippy drumpart' would be great but isn't needed imHo.

You know your toys, and you know even more then that. Great rythm.

Is it really you? Dang/darned/damn*

*you choose

To my ears the first blend of early and mid-Genesis (Trick of the tail) and Pat Metheny and this copa cabana-feeling :-) Very rich and tastefull remix, great atmospheres.

Respectfull, with integrity, mellow, a nice open structure. A very honest approach with very nice subtle personal touches.

Yup, really nice rythm part though i must say it sounds more latin to me, but what do i know. I think you've proven you could build this song with percussion only. Where does the male chant sample come from?

Very nice elements, and fun vox editing indeed, nice atmosphere.

Many nice ideas in here, bold rythm starting at around 0.45 and furtheron at 1.18, nice chord progressions after some 3 minutes. I noticed you didnt' make much use of panning; everything seems centered. It could create some space maybe.

Great integrity, no gimmicks, nothing forced, just a natural flow. This sounds far more like an original then a remix. Glad you were at nr 1 of this weeks top 20 otherwise i would've missed out on you people. Top score.

It's true, i could almost feel dusty sand in my hands. A very daring mix, unconventional and effective. I almost missed this.

Thanks for your comment Frakir. I forgot to mention before: try to listen to Neneh Cherry's "Somedays" from the album "Homebrew" one day. You might like that. :-)

Thanks for your kind comments everybody.

I agree on the to melodramatic end. I knew it but couldn't put my finger on what it was. And now it's up here___

And: we're very (very!) okay here. Thanks for your concern, it's heartwarming. As i wrote in the notes, the day of birth - which in itself went without any problems - was emotionally strange, but really my 'emotional radius' is too short to understand the feelings of joi i'm experiencing every day by the look on the "smile on his face". I'll pm AndreasF & Thukol, cause it' seems somewhat odd to tell about it here. _HM

Niiiiice one, i was hesitating at the combination Moonlight -jazz, but somehow it works. Nice bassline too!

Think i like the second part best with that (almost) continuisly ongoing guitar and the few keyboard 'sparks' like the one you're ending with. Very nice atmosphere pu_____ mr. D.

Short, sweet and sparse with some nice vocal treatments in this mix. I can really appreciate an approach like this.

Great groove, maybe colab's idea about the fat house bass is a good one. Very nice mellow feel for this one. Likes. :-)

I think the chords still do their work in this mix, even when it's full with glitches it still works for me. Maybe the bass is somewhat too present for my taste, but i like this version a lot.

Glad you worked on it some more cause to me this is great remix, the drumming is completely up my alley (reminds me somehow of Bobby Previte, may i say that?). I love how the brass brushes through it and the many tiny moments of chaos, the beautifull piano chords. Hi five, no doubt.

Ok, i used headphones as well to listen. Joifull remix, the snare is hurting because it's somewhat loud on my pair. Did you deliberately not line up perfectly the vox at 2.30? Works very 'humanizing', compare to 3.09. Nice work AT.

Clever arrangement and as far as i can tell (i have to be very carefull with what i say these days) indeed flawless. I find Karma Collector also more interesting, exactly because of what Colab says. Matter of taste i guess. Nevertheless, it's to good for only 4 stars, so.,.,.,.,

The bass only is 5 stars, the in and out fading strings work beautifully. Soundquality is something i can only dream of ever achieving. Fav and who knows what else. (i like that you-vibrato strangely enough)

The 'audio truth commission' wants to rephrase something because apparently i seem to have expressed poorly what i meant. To put it simple: after the first piano and string chords i 'expected' different harmonies with the vocals. So it's something in my head only and is certainly not a general 'truth' on how things should be. God forbid. You already know you have my respect as a musician Pegasus. - HM

Great remix, the intro is fantastic. Complex piles of sound and still everything (i guess!) is audible. The reversed guitar is really veeeeery nice. :-)

Det hebse sjoon gemaakt mien jong of medje. Very nicely done this slowing down of the vox and also 'slowing down' the entire atmosphere of it all.

If you think this one blows (which it doesn't by the way): nobody is stopping you to do another attempt. :-) I like that bass in the beginning, maybe somewhat heavy but it sure does make your point.

Vox work veeery nice on this rythm you choose. Nice choice of sounds as well.

I mean: the chords fit, but they seem not to be fully harmonic with the vox. Sorry for dubbelposting.

The music in itself is very tastefully made, though i have a feeling the chords you created don't fit completely with the vox. Soundwise very nice work, i like the mallet part, but i must say after a few minutes i wished the strings would stop for a bit :-)

Somewhat grotesque or seemingly over the top maybe but well done anyway. Nice idea to lend some other words from PG, i like the string melodie you created.

Ciao, i like a lot how this al begins, the Jon Hassel trumpet sound, the cut-up percussion, the big drums. Very epic. Then at 2.40 it changes in something which is not to my personal taste but is nevertheless very skillfully made. Reminds me at times more of UK rather then early Genesis. Nice work.

You show no mercy do you? Another great track, heavy and playfull.

You're in this weeks top 20 Andreas, congrats on that. :-)

Many things about your growth has been said and i agree completely (says one amateur to another, but let's not emphasize on that right now.,.). The 'in your face' rythm also shows guts. The first PG verse without (noticable) treatment on the vox works veeery nice, the beat is already quite loud and the Peter get's so close into your ears. Later on i don't hear it that way anymore. Ich nehme mir meinem Hut fur ihnen ab Herr Andreas.

Very warm production, very human. Agree with vae a bit about the vox at times seem not to fit in the type of music at times, but that happens only a few times to my very humble opinion. Great work, great feel.

Nothing beats a heartbeat for this song maybe. Very nice rythmpatterns indeed, great construction.

Love that electric piano in the versus and the brass chords. Smooth one.

Very spacial, almost three-dimensional, great feel and choice of sounds.

Avoiding saying something about your notes (because i just can't, i'm a wimp on this subject) let's just say you made a great tune, beyond remix imho, with the wellknown craftmenship.

Yeah, well, you know.

Great stuff, the beginning with only piano and later vox strings is smart, beautifull and moving. It sounds somewhat introvert and i think i like that___

And? Label? :-) :-)

Veeeery nice :-) :-) lazy groove

Nice little thingies are flying around in this mix. I like that beatpart starting at 50".

Very nice chords and arrangement. Maybe there's an overload of reverb or something? I'm not a technician either, but i hear that soundwise there's something 'not in place' here. Would be worthwhile fixing it i.m.H.o.

awaiting your new version then :-)

Nice vibe in this one. The added vox seems to be in a different key? And i agree with essesq here: you and the other 30-mixes-mixers are insane.

I wonder what coffee you're all drinking. By the sound of this i could need some of it. Firm remix.

Now you know how GB works try to build a simple song with a head a body and a tail. Try again. Sounds like the samples are put in a random order. Be severe with yourself! :-) :-)

Dunno 'bout your intro but the beat is very nice.

I like this, but it IS a very strange remix. You have a weird feeling for timing and you created strange harmonies with those strings. I'm not convinced about the total, but you have beautiful parts in it.

Quite nice actually. :-)

What's that there, a solo-reference to Herbie Hancock's brief hitparade visit from some good years ago? ('Rock it' or something) Very nice groove you have, the vox could be louder maybe.

It's a joy to listen to the numerous details and so carefully chosen sounds and noises. Great work and welcome back.

This must be the fastest Joi-remix so far. I like those small 'disturbing' moments you put in there. Great work youyou:-)

Great again. Rest assure i "get" this.

Hotdamn, found a label yet? Great fx and very danceable.

I repeat what your girlfriend said one remix ago: Yeah man!:-)

Good. Of course. And now one more time with Manu Katche on drums.

The very subtle build of tension in this seemingly sparse remix reveals you know e x a c t l y what you are doing. Chapeau.

Evocative, Thukol used that word already, and a warm and personal work. I like your added synth-lines, of which i can imagine it might've been a barrier to put them in. I'm really amazed by how enormously steep your 'learning-curve' is going. And respect to your teacher indeed, what a generous thing to do.

Too short! When Angelique starts singing, the combination with your grinding track is beautiful, haunting___ and then it stops___ but then, maybe it should. The part starting at 0,23 and developing until the end is beautifull. And as usual; more questions then answers in your music.

What enormous warmth brings this cello (these celli?). Very nice movements and the chorus is beautifull with those long chords. I'm no expert in cello playing but it sounds to me you have a very nice tone coming from your instrument. The Beatles' 'Michelle' comes to mind in this combination. The only thing i'd consider changing is the beginning. Allthough funny the work doesn't really need it.

Forza on your comming concerts.

:-) HM

Copy-paste all positive comments posted here before and see what i think. Art is indeed an enormous word (strangely enough) but i'm a fan of your work nevertheless.:-)

Great piece, very nice treatments and choice of sounds. It's really stomping. Love the 'digital' details everywhere. Max. score of course. :-)

"Makes you go where you can't go, makes you want what you can't have - Live a thousand lives by picture" I'm starting to understand why i like all your mixes so much.

What beautifull piece again and what a great skill to bring those emotions across.

Ooowwww you already uploaded! And i had soooo many ideas for improvements. Not :-) You know i'm a sucker for Reich, so you had me after 15 seconds already. And please take my last remark in today's e-mail serious.

Cheers mate.

Totally and incredibly believable. Man you are good. You are too good, actually I agree with Schräs: go away, vai via! Haha, kidding of course. You're a musical gem in this community. Your professionalism makes me try harder to do something good (without much succes, but that's another story). Cinque stelle.:-)

Wow Thukol, you had me speechless there for a while. It's a beautifull piece. The high vox make it feel alien, deserted. Music for an art-installation. Great and moving work, thanks for sharing this. And agree with Backstage here; i trust in you too.

The song seems to start in a conventional way and then after a minute you 'take over' and there seem to be no boundaries for your imagination. You almost literally turn the piece inside out. As a result you have some incredibly beautifull moments, explorations of sounds before you at the very end return again to the song i recognise. And that's a reasuring moment as well. It was quite a trip, had to listen several times.

Congrats on this one Steve. You made a very delicate version of the song that haunts me at night. The big feeling of enormous melancholy (mind you: the BIG version of that, ok?) flies by every now and then. I'm a bit familiar with Reich's work and yes, there's the same 'technical' concept of phase shifting, but the way you took this concept and turned it into your own vision shows love for your work. Probably one of your finest works. And thanks for sharing the process, i have so much to learn.

Great atmosphere, again. I think it would be worth finishing too. (i think i said this on another of your mixes too, are you just lazy or what is it? :-) )

Must echo your girlfriend: Yeah man!:-)

What a happy remix, wow.

Apart from the entire remix being quiet lovely, the last 4 seconds (sorry, i'm not trying to be funny here) have a promise for a totally new approach.

Close to a perfect painting in sounds. The 'glissando'vox are just great.

You have very nice musical patterns, guitar and rythm combinations, but many segments are just 8 bars long which to me seems at times too short. I'd say you have all the ingredienst for a great piece, only the puzzle of putting what, when and how long remains. Sound is very nice.

My experience with this kind of music is close to zero, but somehow i get the feeling that this remix is really very clever, the changes are slow but just within reach of being too slow. The sound is very crispy, very fresh.

Very nice chords, great feel, love the lazy timing of the piano. The guitar has - besides that marvelous solo part - a veeeeeery low volume. The jazzy feeling is very very credible, up to the arrangment with even a bass solo. Impressive job.

Great respectfull approach to the original, love your guitarplaying and the sound you choose for it. Overall sound is somewhat heavy in lower areas (i'm listening with beyerdyn. DT770 headph.), i'll try through monitors tomorrow.

Very nice remix. :-)

Hypnotising rhytms! You sound rather sensitive in that direction. At times i have the feeling some Joi-samples are just passing by as snippets, like they are not building on a structure. Other then that: great work.:-)

I could do without the part from 0,35 until 2.00. ImHo that's the 'disjointing' part. Little timingprobs with the vocals near the end of the song (or it's my smallminded taste of course), but other then that i'm impressed how you improved your work. Very nice atmosphere.:-)

Really totally not my taste, but your musicality is evident, as are your playing and productional skills.

The distorted-ish pad just before 'i'd tear the building down' does it totally for me. Like what you did with the sound of your guitar too. The chime, well, hm.

Verrry nice one. Nice pads and oud, and a simple but very effective rythm. I wouldn't be missing the vocals here at all, agree with colab on that a bit. 4****

Father son, loved this one. Great playing.

Sounds are great, chords make it very melancholic. The structure is not very obvious to notice, which makes it (in my very humble opinion) maybe less of a 'song' rather then an atmosphere.

The second word should've been 'person'. Sorry, made that mistake before over here___:-]

Funny man :-) A very clever over-the-top performance.

Totally worth the reworking. And longer is better in this case. Glad you did this.:-) Izza fiver.

At one hand this sounds like a gimmick to me as well, like you tried maybe too hard to be original and came up with this idea. With ideas that have a strong impact on the final result i'm looking for the reason: why reverse all the samples? There probably is no profound reason and maybe there 's no need for that either, but i caught myself asking this question. Maybe i just didn't want to know this before i listened to your remix/reverse and just have the sound do it's independant work. There are very nice moments and situations in this mix i think, and you imho actually managed to create a new song wit a very personal flavour as well. Not my cup of tea, but a good showcase for your skills, for instance drumming. Just to name one. :-)

Really a great piece, the transformation is indeed almost unbelievable.

Very nice one Andreas. The 'monks' are a bit distracting but i like your musical thoughts here, telling this story.

In my most humble opinion it's worth reposting with adjusted vox. Please?

Great rythmic keys with a lot of solo parts which imho is totally just for this song. What else is there to do? Agree a bit with the comments about the rythm. A bit of a Pat Metheny-ish rythm style could work out great here since there's that jazzy touch in it. But great playing really.

Verrrry nice this one. The sound of the 'you got me through'-vox don't 'fit' immediately for me, but after getting used to 'em the contrast with the slow pads works very well. And nice drumbreaks you have in here as well. I wish there was a way to put even more 'dream' into this one. In that way colab's reference with 'Gone to earth' is a good one.

Good and very 'natural' idea i think. Very very nice :-)

To listen to all the new tracks here and shift easily i decided to listen to them while working. I thought it'd be easy to pick the ones which would stand out. And then this one came along.,.,. i'm disturbed. I agree with Scarb's remarks (freely interpreted) that this is not music to sit down for and have a good listen. It seems to be made to accompany somekind of performance. Man, if i hadn't listen to your stuff at myspace i'd say you're quite a schizo, but now i can only appreciate how you keep searching for boundaries or limits, how you keep pushing yourself. You seem to have been diggin' in the dirt. And finally: you don't have to use the word 'ugly' in the title, we will decide that for you. When it's appropriate. :-)

Melancholic. Beautifully done. Must admit i was expecting something heavier to kick in. Love your background, atmospheric pads and guitars. Very sensitive.

Great atmosphere, and beautiful pad albeit somewhat loud. I agree on what is said before here about when it starts to get going. Shuffle the parts and see what happens?

Too well done to be just a Concorde-lounge-donkey-leather-stationary-with-your-initials-on-it-pink-champagne___err___ gimmick. You're a master in sound.

I like this one best from this trilogy i think. I'm still not sure about the 'real time' parts, but for the rest i'd wish it would be inside my head like this every now and then, this ocean of slow time.

Did u sample 'Watcher of the skies' there for a tiny bit? As a whole i'm not convinced but it's a collection of great ideas and sounds, and imHo very well produced.

I just love your ending. Welcome back Andreas :-)

I would've liked beat at 1.14 starting at, well, let's say 0.01 :-)

As the above said. All of 'em. Perfect mix really, big 5.

Loaded with beautiful elements, respectfully made and 'sensitive' as scarborough said. Very very nice.

Very mellow, nice drum recording, envy the kick sound.

That was quite a full stage, but with a sensitive musical feeling. It's sweet (in a good way!)

Yup, the brass makes it interesting after well 2 minutes. Let's say that part bares more of a signature. Overall soundproduction sounds great to me.

Big sound, like the bassline. Can imagine this getting more agressive at a higher tempo. Do like the pad at 2.38, like less the strings at 3.12.

Very impressive work, amazing how you created this sound.

Very 'chill' indeed, soothing and smooth. I agree wit Scarborough a bit about it not clearly going anywhere, but at the other hand, for a piece like this it doesn't really matter, it's more a sensation rather then a story. Great work, 4.

Great melancholic piece. Neither i don't like the pitched down vocals a lot, but that's a detail in the entire mix. Really appreciate your personal vision here. 4 thingies.

Agree with glasschick1 on this one. It's all already there, but maybe you'll have to make new decisions in what to keep and what to delete. Just my 2 cents.

Good idea, very soft and sweet result with that subtle percussion. Likes.

You know already how i like this _______ except for the bass and drums i'm afraid. For me they don't combine well with the stretched carpet, it's probably because of the sounds, cause i could imagine how it could work with f.i. freestyle jazz drumming. Actually, i think that would be great!

I like to see how you really moved on with the initial stretching idea. The choir works heavenly :-)

A really interesting thing you did. For the 'remix part' i agree with the above, not coherent, but to me it's not that important now. The separate parts are haunting or at least very imaginative. Your unorthodox approach results in beautiful moments, way off the beaten track so to speak.

Works for me, great groove. And i don't know about L-D's comment about this "eard it all before". I think you could say that in 99.9 percent of the remixes here, inlcuding mine, including his. What matters is: does the remix 'work'? You already know it does. I have to give you 5.

Very very close to a great remix. If you refer to Massive Attack i'd expect maybe greater drama, which in this case should be done by the strings, maybe more exciting chords. What i personally like less is that you use a drumsample wich is used by Massive Attack in 'Protection'. I'd say: create your own groove! :-)

Funny how it still very much sounds like a RW product. Well done, allthough i agree with Schräs that it's a bit full.

Great performance, good thing that you took out the nervous busy citylife buzz here. I wonder if the FX Vox wouldn't fit better here instead of those 'you got me through' vox. Another 4, that's 12 in total :-)

Reminds me of the times i actually went to a 'discotheque' or dancing, the floor wet from beer and wine, the coloured lights in your face, (strobosope!) the secret quick looks to that eye blinding girl next to you and slowly, very slowly getting too drunk to be interesting to her or any other girl - or boy for that matter - there. And then going home, alone again, alone. Hotdamn this is a depressing remix! If it wasn't performed so well i didn't have to think all this.

I'll do you 4.:-)

A pro mix again, great sounds and very well balanced in a way i'll never manage. When i was listening i was waiting for the song to 'get going' let's say, and when it finally started doing so - after 3 minutes - i wasn't convinced about the solo kick there, too cold maybe. It sounds better together with the rest of the rythmsection. And then the sound is 'fat'.

(i liked that 'again___and again___and again'):-)

Nice feel, for my taste it's not totally coherent, especially the 1st minute or so. Later on i like it more. And maybe it's just me, but in the intro i hear all kinds of things which remind me of 'Come talk to me'. :-)

Agree with L-D too, you sure have great sounds here. If you'd focus on less of many great ingredients it might be 'easier' (if at all necessary of course) to listen to. Like the ending when it really gets going. How much time did you spend on this one?

Very fragmented as DJ KroD said, not coherent and thus maybe not a 'song' in my very humble opinion. And i'm trying not to be to harsh or blunt but it will sound that way anyway i'm afraid: I'm missing an 'idea' or a clear vision. This way it isn't adding to the few hundred mixes which are already here. It has nice snippets (as KroD said as well) which might have possibilities. I know how much work this must've been so please don't shoot me for my comment. :-]

Great tension in the rythm track together with that drone. Don't change a thing. :-)

Spinmeister is probably right when he talks about your production choices enhancing the effect of 'just strectching'. The beautifull thing is that there's still an unmistakable reference to a typical Peter-Gabriel-Sound (if it exists at all) like there is in for instance the Passion cd.

When you're going to burn that cd for the RWR-people, burn an extra one for me and don't tell anyone.

Great sound, very well produced, no arguing there. But for me it misses a bit of 'soul' it seems, some swing. It's almost like it's over-quantised or something, to mathematical, square. But that's just my thing propably.

There's been some talking about timestrectching here and in the forums already (Beethoven!). The effect is in a way predictable but yet at the same time it remains breathtaking. Thanks for having done this Synthetic1.

However i'm not satisfied:

a: i need the full one hour version

b: at least at a 192 kbs rate

I think it's time for rwr to let go of this mb-limit. The competition is over, only a few 'knuckleheads' are posting and i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one who wants better sound. It would only be just for the people who worked so hard with heart and soul to get their mixes finished.

(sorry if i'm drifting away here too much :-))

May i just echoe all the positiveness from above? Great mix really, great sound. Lemme see what you did with the monkey.:-)

If this is an error, i seem to like errors.:-)

Tragic and hopefull chords. Very nice combination of sounds. I like the guitar but for my taste it could play a smaller part here. The last 'resistencia' wasn't necessary for me. But really: great work. :-) 4*

Accompanying the filmed death of Steve Irwin (Crocodile man) in an Arctic and very harsh environment (and not the Great barriereef where it actually happened). The endpart is during his 'tribal' funeral.

A daring mix, very evocative. 4*

Totally like your chorus here, reminds me of Coldplay, somehow uplifting and melancholic at the same time. Great sound.:-)

Thanks a lot for all your very kind comments. A total surprise i must say. And it makes me very proud to have a 45 day old son who's voice is heard on several continents already. How is that for a start in musicbizz?

Agree with DjKrod on the drumsound, maybe a less electronic sounding snare and hh would be a warmer combination. Sounds to me like a good laid back groove though. The added electric piano ads greatly for the pacing of this song. For my personal taste there's maybe too little happening in the entire track, movements, dynamics. But that's just me, other then that: great work.

Very credible indeed. Your voice-pitching actually made me laugh at times. Well done :-)

A dance classic already. Great work really, powerful, energetic. It's a fiver for me.:-)

Great work. Very very mellow. Great synth sounds.

Whoaah, now that was a big warm blanket. Thanks for that great sound.:-)

Great mix, firm rythm, beautifull sounds,.,., what else?:-)

Intruiging. I am very curious how a live band would play this. Sure has possibilities.:-)

Really like what you did with those vocal harmonies. Very nice.

Beautiful saxes in an ambitious mix. I see the big line (i think) and you have great ingredients, but it's not coming across fully. Maybe because the Tibetant chant and the bell's (it's not too obvious why they are in there) and that strange toylike snaredrum. But i really like the chords you choose, they do the work here i.m.h.o.

Very nice atmosphere, the repetition of your theme - this high flute - works very well. I was imagining hearing this in one of the pavilions in the Art Biennale in Venezia. Really very nice.:-)

Not my taste to be honest, but it sounds like a very skilfully made 'pastiche'. Sound quality is great.

Unconventional combinations of sounds which brings some nice effects.

From 1.28 to 1.40 really very beautifull moment, some sort of chorus which returns later on. Your other rhodes chords don't have the same tension imho. I'd say: go deeper :-)

Reminds me of Mercy Street. Tranquil is a very well choosen word (by RizkeyG). The lack of variation in the rythmpart is prob. due to the use of the apple loops. Nice and sweet chords.:-)

Nice ideas and an organic build up. Great bassline. Vocals don't 'sit' well in the mix to my very humble opinion.

Very warm sound you created with a real nice rythmtrack. Maybe at 1:56 i was expecting some change which could've helped to 'deepen' the mood or something. Not fully convinced about (the meaning of) the indian chant, maybe there's too much of it? All 'n all very nice work.

A touch of jazz-rock, a touch of steely dan, but mostly a touch of you and your friends. Great production i'd say. :-)

Sure has beautiful moments but i'm not convinced about this match. Many times it seems the vocal phrases are just put in there and don't follow the beautifull lines mr. Dvorak invented. It could be worthwile trying again. And personally i'd prefer a more natural sound of the quartet. To much fx glueing the four lines together. But as Susy said; interesting concept.

Your best remix yet i.m.o. Great sound and atmosphere.

_

Chapeau to you all for putting this together. I totally agree with audiotechnica here. Not sure if it could've grown in a bigger thing when the rythmparts would've had more variations and a more important function. I'm quite sure you discussed that already. :-)

Totally radio-ready-remix. Get it out there.:-)

Dark groove, very nice. Agree on vocal timing issues at times. Vox sound somewhat 'thin' compared to the rest of your full sound. You managed after a zillion monkey-remixes to create your own unique personal vision. Really very nice. 4 stars.

Cypre, douze points, Cyprus, twelve points! Great remix, extremely busy so i'm slightly nervous now. Sound seems very well balanced.

Grrreat work then. Really loved this pumping version. Let's see if i can find you IfIHadMyWay-mix.

Agree mostly on comments concerning the cellosound and vocal volume and timing. I really like the drone-sound you created. The synth-brass hits in the 1st verse are slightly too much for me. Because of the droneish effect (of which the sound itself is beautifull) the entire piece doesn't seem to go anywhere, missing head, body and tail a bit. Technically however i think you know really well what you are doing.

This all may sound a bit harsh or just plain negative even, but it's really meant as an honest comment. Your quality has been recognised over here i think. :-)

One of my favorite 'ways' on this site. The sound and feel are very intense. Truly impressive musical opinion here. 5 stars from me too.

Great mix. Musically very well planned i think. The drum programming is really impressive but because of the snare breaks (riffs? fills? excuse my english) you can still tell it's programmed while it obviously is meant to sound as 'live drum'. In words it's too hard to explain what i exactly mean i think. And this is really nitpicking of course. Great job.

Sweet tune :-) PG should sing this again with a different feel just to fit your mix better.

Great atmosphere with guitar, bass and synth. Very well done i.m.h.o. The snare (not the most beautifull sound) never changes unfortunately and the i think you could loose that shaker. Bring out that ride more and you'll have a smooth Chris Isaak image.:-)

I tested the rating here, gave you 5*. With 3 votings the average is now 2.33. Commented on your final mix.

Very nice chords indeed, and i really like the choice of sounds. The chorus sounds like it's a classic already. Very well done i think.

That was a nice trip :-) I'll have to come back here again to grasp it.

Really very very nice playing with rythms and breaks (at times somewhat to 'rude' for my personal taste). Love the synthpad and agree to the vox being somewhat to low in volume overall. Great work.

Hotdamn, kicks on 32nd notes! You need a special ankle for that at this speed.:-)

More then 20 years ago Slave to the rythm was a great listening experience (amongst others of Trevor Horn). To me this remix has the same qualities, keeping you alert on all the little thingies happening in the far left and right of your ears. Keimooi gedaan. :-)

Who's afraid of the big bass? Great mix, very musical ideas, like the arrangement. Slightly jealous of your guts to throw in big sounds this way. The ending is maybe somewhat sudden?

Beautifull approach but not just there yet to my taste. It could use more detail in the rythmtrack maybe and i too have difficulty with the high frequencies. I like the chords you choose and the various sounds and how they appear. But as i said, maybe it could use some final touch here and there.

There's no question about your high skills as far as i'm concerned. Though not always my cuppa, at least technically they are just top notch. This one as well. I echo the comments about your melodic addition which imo are great. One thing i'd wish for this mix is that it would be less 'cold', deriving from it's very very clean sound. Sometimes the polish makes things shine too hard to see the actual surface which in this case to me is what you are talking about in your remixer notes above. But, apart from this: respect.

Love that staccato piano there. There's something with the balance which i think i'd like to hear differently (to my deranged ears of cours) but as a whole: i like this.

The longer you are around this site, the freer you seem to get. Stay a bit longer i'd say.

I hate the marimba. No i don't. I'd wish i had one actually.

I really appreciate your free approach, also concerning your other mixes. They tend to have a somewhat 'arty' (forgive me the silly word, i mean it well) approach.

Nice club, to bad i can't dance.:-)

Love the sound a lot, curious about the 'highres'mix. As a remix maybe not spectacular, but it has great subtle details added which i can really appreciate.

Nice vox indeed and i like that little whistle in the chorus. Youd didn't throw in to much prefab loops did you? Like it a lot.

Is it mono? Very nice ideas in here (chords and rythm), not totally coherent to my ears though.

Must admit that i'm not a fan of the drums here. I really like the beginning of this song with the strings and malletlike sounds. Then it slowly evolves into this happy-holidays tune. It has a naive touch and like some other comments here i'm hesitating how serious you are here.

Agree with LS above. The drums don't truly fit (to my ears) the atmosphere created in the beginning. And something else which i noticed with others and mine and your mix as well; in the slowish beginning the leadvox seems to push the music too hard forward, leaving too little space for the music to just 'rest' let's say. Overall sound is really great.

It's been a long time since i heard Tackhead the last time, but i believe it reminds me of it. Must be the snare i think. Very nice and a true remix.

Forgive me if i can't notice the differences with your first mix immediately, i'm sure you made a lot of adjustments, maybe this one has more 'body'. Still like it quite a lot. 4*

At times really beautyful rythm in the background, but i'm really missing some sort of connection between the vocals and the music. I'm not so sure they go together well.

Very nice, very pro with a great overall sound. I like what you did with the sound of the vox. The sound is somewhat like the Roxy Music Monkey, and that's a compliment. One really very very small detail; the rimshot sounds too dry for my taste, especiaaly at the end. Ok, so it's your first remix, but how many years have you been a musician huh? :-)

Very nice colourshift at around 28" and very nice vox treatment and sequenser sound, especially the choruses are beautifull. Not sure about drums and el. guitar though, but it's likely i'm missing the pun here. Overal sound is great again.

Great mix, very danceable. I like the electricity, it's pumpin'. :-):-)

Sheer madness with conviction, you did it again. I'm looking for more meaningfull adjectives but i can't find the right ones for this crazy note feast of sound. Lemme chew on this for a bit. :-)

Thanks for your comments and time everybody, i really appreciate it.

To me musically very interesting with odd melodic lines. The sound is maybe not my taste, but that's another thing. In a way Bill Bruford comes to mind.

This one confuses me. At first it seems a bit at random, but it kept me listening. And i wonder what am i listening to: to your remix, or to all very clear audible samples from the pack, and am i maybe just enjoying a memory of a musical piece, or a sweet memory of a personal and very recent past :-)

Great mix. Really impressive how you are capable of glueing all those styles (maybe one to many? :-)) together in a very organic way. Very energetic, reat work.

Very playful and joyful mix with a lot of very nice ideas i think. And the sound is great i think. :-)

Radiotimes, thanks for your comments. I might have a clue when you say something is missing, i'm just not sure if i want it in there. Yet.

Youyou, i'm glad you got a little sad, that was totally intentional. :-)

Changed my mind and want to add something to the 'remix' here, albeit in this strange language. :-) The first idea was to enlarge the feeling of some sort of armagedon heading our way, for wich in the end there seems to be no escape. Skip is first the messenger of this evil, when he describes how he sees it in the verses. After that there's also his 'solution' in the chorus. At this point he's getting personal obviously "If i had my way". So my idea was for the messenger parts, i.e. the verses, to underline them in a serious way and i thought some classical-sounding way was good for that. It's not really classical meant of course since A: i can't make classical music, and B: and don't have the convincing means for that. I tried to give the verse part a more and more panic-like feeling with those chords which go further 'off' as the song progresses. The chorus then is the voice from the heart, hence the subtle rythm thingy there and since the chorus is brought as some sort of 'solution' i thought to make it sound somewhat angelic.

All in all it became a very serious piece. I'm not sure if it's finished because i have the feeling i could work on this one for quiet some extra time. And the ending is really in minor. Dark, deep and without hope.

1st remix ever? You could've fooled me there.

Dunno if the ending is too long. I especially like it from 3.40 on when it finally seems to break free. I could imagine that happening sooner. Cool mix really.

Very nice and promising sound. Maybe it's not growing towards the spectacular thing it seems to promise (to me) when it starts, but it's a lovely remix. Like the synth percussion too, not convinced about the digital brass though. Made with love, that's for sure. :-)

Suddenly it came to me: the high piano notes at 57 seconds are the same as in 'Melody' by the Stones. It took me a while, but at least this one is out of my system now :-)

Great, good atmosphere. Maybe having the piano played live could crank it up enormously? Just an idea.

Very interesting combination of sounds, the acoustic violins and that demolishing digitalised crush. You dared something here i'd say. :-)

Nice sound here, but from 50" on it seems the leadvox isn't following the music anymore. Later on it picks up again.

Clearly you have a vision and the will to do something meaningfull. Why not go to the next level: no more use of prefabricated garageband loops?

Great drumgroove and nice ideas. At time the timing is somewhat off.

The song that you lost is the one i missed i think. Great mix with great sounds fx. The further it's on it's way the better i like it. So i'm curious about your naughty 7 minute version as well. And structure, well i don't miss that when it sounds like this really. And i quote you "Keep em coming:-)"

Veeery nice one :-) Is the reverb on the vox a bit of a bathroom-gimmick? For me shouldn't be necessary really. Really like those violin parts.

Very credible mix. Maybe at times the vox timing isn't really mine, but in the total that's a detail. You almost got me dancing here :-)

Very subtle atmosphere and nice slow movements. For the expression and technique i'm quite amazed that this is your first remix. Great job.

Great chords on that piano. With more swinging drums i'd consider a 5. I like the open but firm sound of it all.

Great structure, i like the doubled voices (of the monks i suppose :-)). The samples you threw in help a lot in making it more narative. I'm not a real musician, but i'm guessing you have at times a rather free approach towards the key which the song is in. Because of some of the vox i think. Great work.

(by the way, it's quite lengthy, are we missing a lot of the sound quality now?)

Not sure whether it's called bridge or chorus, but it's really very cleaverly done, and shows me how far ahead you are of me when it comes to grasping or forming musical forms. I like a lot of the smaller detail sounds and disturbances, and i appreciate how the mix is filled with these tiny thingies without being too much. But, i have a big nag this time: your choice of sounds. Very eighties, or seventies even, J.M. Jarre and friends. The sounds fit the musical style of the song somehow, but are not my cuppa. There are worse things in a man's life i'm sure. :-)

Funny combination, these rythmbox sounds mixed with 'real' drum sounds.

Nice groove.:-)

Sparse arrangement, i like that. What's that Russian i'm hearing? Chords are really great. Nag: from 3.45 on i would've wished the strings did something else, maybe they are to predictable there. 4 from me.

You painted a sound i really like a lot. The bass is very much 'in' it, a warm bath. And the vocal treatment isn't disturbing to me but what happens if u keep it more pure?

Thanks for all your nice comments. At one hand it would be a great (and totally prentious) idea to send mr. Wenders this remix, but i'm afraid it infringes some copyrights. Isn't that so RW?

Very atmospheric and strange seemingly uncontrolled remix (The Residents indeed). Maybe it's a good thing the bass isn't quantised, it's already quite a mechanical part, also because of the chosen bass sound (and that brings Tuxedomoon to mind). Great kick sound by the way.

Strong statement, good idea and well performed i'd say. Very nice and effective beat despite it's simplicity. Maybe maybe the boots and trigger at the end are overdone, but that's really a very small detail. "History will teach us nothing" and "Our written history is a catalogue of crime" did Sting sing. I'm guessing you might agree to that.

Very well done, great reverbs and bass. I likes :-)

Yeah those guitars are great and i like the structure you made. It's at times slightly too busy for my ears as well, but overall really a great job. And, you have a bigger Mackie then i do. :-)

Cool effect, multiplying Skip's voice this way. Not totally convinced about the distortion on the ac. guitar. I like where you follow that guitar with your Ibanez.

Ciao Thukol, many very nice idea's in your mix. Be honest: will you finish it one day?:-)

You make some strange music mr. Sjonnie. Dunno if it's hell, but let's say if purgatory is like your last 10 seconds here, it could be quite an experience wether you go 'up' or 'down' afterwards.

Dunno about the joyfull or hopefull you where aiming at. To me your mix sounds more like renewed hope after a disaster or something. As far as i can can tell; very well made. I like the string arrangement.

Totally different but i had to think of Joy Division, especially at the end. I love the crushed sound you made. Maybe a less clean kick?

Great atmosphere, very spacious and great bass indeed. Like it a lot. :-) The vox have some kind of hiss. Intentional?

Na je eerste twee toch redelijk ondoorgrondelijke remixes van dit liedje vind ik dit een veel betere remix, meer -voor mij begrijpelijke- zeggingskracht . Erg mooie percussie, zelf gedaan?

Disturbing and interesting, especially after been listening 3.5 to 4 minutes or so. I like the beat, but i really appreciate when it stops at 4.35. The part there with that high pitched guitar (?) i find beautifull. Great chords.

I like how you centered the vocals in this mix. They (male and female) seem to grow in and around eachother like those parasite plants in tropical forests, of which i have no clue how to name them, almost strengling eachother. That's a rather clear image to me. I like the percussion, but i'm not sure about the beat later on (which has slight disturbances from 1.50 on). Knowing -sort of - how you got to this point: great job.:-) -N-

Great bass and chord progression with that organ. In total somewhat rough around the edges, please finish it one day.

Really like this one this way. The atmospheric background is beautifull. The guitar is still rather present. I do not understand why you have this low average rating.,.,.,

Productionwise i agree with some others this might be your best one yet. The twist in the music is beyond 180 degrees regarding the original one. In your liner notes you mention nothing about the meaning of the lyrics, so i could guess their meaning was not your major concern in this remix. I stated before that a dark message doesn't necessarily need to 'sound' dark to come across. The contrast of this velvet Barry White-ish sound and the meaning of the words are in such a big contrast to eachother here that it makes the lyrics maybe even more painfull then they already were. Big question for me is: was this your intention as well?

I'm blown away by your skills again LS.:-)

Great mix, should be added to that 'Love-cd' where Loveshadow already made 'Love the monkey' remix for. The chords are really great. One remark for improvement (to my taste of course): the bass sound. Maybe more rounded warmer feeling, with a softer attack or so?

I'm not familiar with the original, but surely your version is very convincing, the female vox in the 'center' of this mix seems to be a good idea. And now: how about creating loops by yourself? You obviously have a feeling for sound.

Very musically with a lot of nice details. You gave the song a very interesting twist this way, also by adding those extra vocals. The ooooonly thing if i may nag some more: the snare at the end is maybe to 'robotic' for this type of music. Other then that: good job!:-)

Very nice details in this mix, every now and then this subtle touch while keeping a lot of the original feeling in it. I like that approach.:-)

Thanks for the trip Tatevari, a very nice mix. Brought Jam & Spoon to my mind.

A very sweet tune i think, very nice sound and good variations. The voice fits very well on a jazzy rythm. The_Joe has a point concerning that ride. There's no stopping it! :-) Maybe a build up would be nice. For instance start with a pedal hihat only. You might notice how natural it will sound. (In fact you use two brushes on the snare, so if you are a purist: how can you play a ride at the same time? But let's not be purists here, no need for that) A slight variation on the brushes wouldn't hurt either and finally if i may brutally say so: the percussion sounds you used (cowbel, beatring etc.) don't do justice to the rest of your sound, which is quite unique i think. And of course: all these remarks are a matter of (my) taste. There's no right or wrong. Am curious about your Cocteau Twins version :-)

Great mix, fantastic sound. The 2nd part is so well done, what's your secret? It all 'seems' so simple. C'mon, tell me your secret. Tell me.

Perfect in it's style. I'm amazed how (you made?) the vox fit this type of music.

Thanks Ess, as an american you know about the hymn naturally, maybe for non americans it might be less obvious. I'm guessing of course.

Unfortunately i know nothing about Cubase. Why the guitar had a changed pitch from the beginning puzzles me. If u open a new cubase doc and just throw in all the samples at the same time, they should fit regarding to the pitch.

Thanks for your comments. Of course i'm familiar with the Paris Texas score and i was afraid i was coming to close to it. The movie however has an emotion i needed to be in here somewhat. The horns unfortunately are played on a keyboard and programmed for a more natural feeling. Nothing can beat a real life trio playing this of course, so if any of you guys wanna volunteer, please be my guest. :-)

There is an older and different version of 'If I had my way', and it has a strong religious origin (Google it). My intention was to bring a bit of the gospel feeling into this version, also by using those horns. 'Funeral' is quite a nice connotation of which i didn't think of myself before.

The tiny quote 'Glory glory hallelujah' is from the 'Battle hymn of the Republic'. It refers to the 'soldiers marching into war, with the flag of the allmighty dollar'.

Every verse of the hymn ends with the phrase 'His truth is marching on'. Since in my most humble and arguable opinion this song is directed against prez. Bush i thought it'd be nice to connect this last phrase to this president (in the hymn the word 'His' refers to a God above). All this is not easy to find in my remix, but it is the why and how of my doing. Did i scare you off now? :-)

Finally i'll look into the reverb-remarks, and again thanks for the kind comments.

I wish i knew how to create that percussion sound, beautifull. His voice seems to sink away in the overall sound maybe? Great job.

It seems so simple, and that's the strength of this version. Strong and effective. What's that sound in my left ear?

Very very nice intro with the female vox. Terrific rich sound, drums maybe somewhat loud to me as well, but that's really personal taste. The robotic-ness (Air!) of it works very well. Very professional transformation of the song. Like it a lot.:-)

Wow, great improvement really. As PSO said about the 1st mix, it's very hypnotic. Very good job on the wah sample. The total makes it a very personal remix which in my view - if you are able to express it - is a form of art.:-)

Very nice ideas in here, a lot of hiss as wel, but are you sure vox and instrumentation are in the same key?

At 3.00 the guitar is disturbingly loud imo. but before that i liked it quite a lot. Very subtle with that soft 'string' going on.

Clearly spinmeister gave you a valuable tip on your mix. Frightening shit!

There's a nice remix Reini, but may i ask you why you had/wanted to shiftpitch so many things? Answer in German is fine if that's easier for you.:-)

Great intro and a beautifull kick. The end takes a bit too long for my taste. Good job.

Are we supposed to look for hidden messages now? Effective work, it's somewhat spooky.

You truly 'trashed' the vocals here :-) but you knew that. Other then that, i love the energetic mix, impressive sound.

In one way the bassline is needed for the very pushy sound you created, at the other hand i sometimes think it is in the way of other important melodic lines. Love those organ punches.:-)

Good swing and very nice details indeed. The intro has good atmospheres. I don't fully understand the collision of styles at 1.16.

Kinda agree with spinmeister. The entire thing seems to be pitched down (it isn't, i know) wich makes it somewhat hard to listen to. A 'dark message' doesn't have to sound dark to come across. However, i totally agree on your motivation and feelings about these lyrics.

Allthough i'm not totally fond of your intro, i really like the chords there. The change at 1.07 works great. Drumsound is very impressive.

From the man who can mix faster then his shadow. Truly a spaghetti/paella western. Very nice :-)

Very nice one. Very good catch of some 'dopey' sound, convincing atmosphere. For my taste the bass could have more bottom (if that's the correct word, heavier, stomach itching) then it would be a fiver for me.

Never thought it would work this way. But it does. Love all those 'disturbing' sounds in the background and the very open bassline.

See how different opinions can be, 'cause for me it's clearly a remix. Like this a lot, the vocal experiments, the atmospheric sounds, the use of his breathing. At times the harmonic lines are lost for me, not sure if that's a bad thing. Reminds me of the Flux and Mutability cd from David Sylvian and Holger Czukay. Well done.:-)

Overall a very nice feel but, since i always seem to have to nag about things (!) the double kick at 23 sec to my taste disturbs the rythm (it repeats later on). Maybe there should be a double kick somewhere - i understand the link with what happens later on - but that position doesn't seem fine to me. The 'tribal' rythm in itself is really great, but i seem to miss the connection with the rest of the song. At 2.39 with that background pattern it's all really beautifull. :-]

Leaving the vocal (almost) on it's own really works with this man's beautifull voice. It's almost like the wavestring from the STM-pack :-) I specially like the rythm things at the end, very nice open structure, daring.

Like the rythmpart a lot, but why is this mix so short? Benvenuti a te e tuoi amici :-)

Agree on the bottom and the piano. It (the piano) seems a little bit out of tune?

Really very nice parts, for instance from 1.37 on.

To be honest: not my cup of tea :-), but energetic it is! From 2.25 on there's a sync problem with the organ i think. And at points the vocals don't fit well in the rythm. And finally maybe a change in the rythmpattern wouldn't hurt. And finally finally (:-]) it's 9.00 in the morning here, and that's maybe not the best time to listen to a track like this. Don't get mad please :-]

Very nice and very slow with good respect for original guitarparts. The guitarsolo is a good idea, the sound is beautifull, the playing maybe not totally spectacular (i.m.h.o., i'm not a guitarplayer). Overall a very relaxed atmosphere which i like a lot. :-)

Just a thought LS, what if the hihat goes halftime instead of those 16ths? Or is this just my personal taste? (and zz-top came to mind)

(have a peek at your last forumthread)

Woknwoll! The verse-guitar reminded me of the Stones as well. Didn't listen to the original yet, but i'm guessing you added a lot of 'body' on this one. I was afraid the leadvox wouldn't fit this feeling, but.,.,. it does.

Very nice laid back drums, seem to fit very well. Really like the 2nd verse. Toms are maybe a bit loud? :-]

The rhtymtype that starts at around 3.35 is rather nice and imo. could've started earlier. The 'stuck' note is quite loud maybe? At the end most seems to happen around the same frequencies (tone height if i make myself clear, sorry for the lack of pro-vocabulary) wich makes it hard to separate sounds. I think it might be beneficial for the rythm if you maybe have a clearer arrangement there? Overall feeling: very nice.:-)

Sorry there aren't two number ones SC. But you know you are a winner, right? (out of 738 remixes is in my humble opinion this is an enormous achievement)

Cooooooolll!!! Congrats man! Totally and utterly deserved. I'm excited for ya.:-)

Thanks for your comment and vote ximeR:-)

I can't help you with your question about the flash-player i'm afraid. Maybe go to the forum and start a new thread there about this tech problem. I'm sure someone will be able to help. Good luck.

Very cool sound and nice atmosphere. After 3.15 you lost me though. ****

Very powerfull, great sound and agree with Wildnoise on the very clear construction. Very very good job.

First: i like it. Second: it only uses two samples from the pack which i both like, the vox and the wav. As your vision i can totally appreciate it, as a mix it's maybe too easy. But as i said, i like the result.

Good feel, like the drums a lot.

Very nice rythm ideas. At 3.16 you got me.

Honest mix, not bad.

It's simple but i like it. Many shocks in there :-)

Just wanted to let you know i've put you on the 1st place in my definite top ten. Let's hope many more will do so. And i had a peek at your short movie; breathtaking strong images. Good luck these last days David.

You're a great person Ess, thanks for being here. :-x

More guitars, i want more guitars :-)

A very personal vision, like it. More bottom end - as mentioned before - could make the timings more clear maybe. Very nice details. ****

Beautifully done without a doubt, i like the part with the drums best. Allthough the vox are cut up in a very personal way i feel like missing some kind of surprises.

No in depth reaction: great mix :-)

Your title made me listen to this (so much catching up to do, so little time). I think the direction in which this one is going is really great, subtle and fragile. But it needs more.,.,. refinement.,.,. but what do i know. 4 stars.

Very adventurous and playfull piano. Beautifull. *****

What a great dark groove! ****

Good one. Kick on 1st count is somewhat heavy.

Ok i voted, now stay above that 2.5 okay? Great work.

Great. Just great.

I hate you. :-)

I'd have to listen to the other ones again but i think i like this one best. At some of them i mentioned a cup of tea, not being mine. This one is, very very nice things are going on here. One tiny detail i didn't like: the sound of that saw-like accompanying synth during the chorus (i think it's what you call chorus anyway). Stil it's a fiver.

<trying to be honest mode> I think i would've recognised Steam throughout the mix if it wasn't there at the beginning. I think.

Good idea to cut up that bass. Works really well.

How do they say that in English: Top notch? Great mix, great sounds, lot's of ideas which are not struggling with eachother. 5 stars.

Bertolini -in german- mentioned that apparently your link isn't spelld correct, missing one l (L) in there. And yes he liked it.:-)

Totally jealous of some of your rythms. Darned! ****:-)

Really like this a lot, very nice ongoing rythm, good atmosphere. If i would critisize it might be that the song 'isn't going anywhere' if u understand what i mean. Normally 4 stars, but seeing your average i make it 5. :-)

Very free approach, agree with mojo as well.

You have really beautifull parts in here. Likes.

The delay background works really well, at 2.25 you lost me because of the drums (i just don't like the supplied ones much), good thing you finished them at 3.10 though.:-)

Big music ****:-)

Beautifull and very sweet (if that's not offending). I give you five stars cause your average is way too low.

hotdamn you're good. :-)

Good idea ****

Ver nice, the voice is somewhat loud for my taste, but i really like what's going on in the back.

Not completely my cup of tea but very well done imho. ****

No, i'm not buying this but i like it anyway.

Very nice groove, like the half-time-ish thing.

Very nice flow in this one. Is this one really not in the contest? Really too bad. 4 stars.

Pro mix undoubtedly, sounds like Zuco103 with a new singer. 4 stars.

That's a funny idea cause i had the idea to do (but when!) something with Tosca by Puccini, the opera in which her (Tosca's) jealousy is in fact one of her main character-flaws which lead directly to her and her lovers death.

Really very well executed mix im(very)ho. 4stars.

This is the 1st time i hear somebody following this BeepAndPerc sound. Very fragile mix.

White men can't tango.

Agree with marshpeople. It reminds me of some shops in small towns who put EVERYTHING they have in the window. Too bad for the pearls you might have burried in there.

At times you have really beautifull harmonies. Nice distorted string sound.

Not my cup of tea, but sure a crisp sound. Let's hire a big band to play this thing! Saluti del Lago di Garda

This is one disturbing mix. Hotdamn. Who told you you could touch that PC! I give you three since you can't help it, i'm sure.:-)

Not easy to 'consume' this monkey, but you have some great sound idea's in here.

O man! i was thinking what big words i'd use for your orchestral arrangement while listening.,.,. and then the drums came. I wished they didn't. The rest is just awesome. Despite the drums i'll do you a 5.

I agree with PG and TL right above me :-)

Like your bass loop. Not totally convinced about the playfull vox pitching here. 3/5

Never thought another dance version would atract my attention after about sevenhundred mixes here. Really like how you build this and great sound. Congrats.

Not my cup of tea, but i like what you did with the doubling of the vox.

Great version. Agree with Oberfunker on some (very few) discutable harmonies. The funny thing is that i see these moments coming (like a singer who knows that high note is coming in 4 bars f.i.) and then you wait, and they arrive, and listen and.,.,.,. the harmonies are soooo close but just miss that last bit of excitement, let's say. But: very few and overall beautifully made.:-)

Interesting strings and flutes. Hihat is somewhat sharp, lot's of highs over here. (60MB hard drive? Really?)

It seems DJ Shadow has arrived, very interesting snippet-mix.

Nice laid back mix. I'm going to slightly overrate you cause i see the first voter here had such a big heart to gave you 0. Some people do that.

Very nice effect when those errrr, let's say 'horns' play the marimba-theme. Same notes, new atmosphere.

My brother used to be in a band like this :-)

The awkward thing is that even when i put down 4 stars - which isn't exactly nothing - i downgrade the average. sorry 'bout that.

Really nice pads and strings. Maybe at times PG's vox is too 'hurried' for the slow pads? Nice ending with that piano.

Another great one, Masanori. You obviously know what you're doing.

Totally convincing, great mix. Too bad i can't remember how to save music from this site cause i'd really really really like to have this one on my ipod. Fantastic.:-)

You have a very personal view on vox-timing :-) Music is fun though.

Way - way - way cool. What a great piece of music. I need to get used a bit to the blending of PG's vox with your music, but that will come. I didn't expect anymore surprises these last days of the competition, but this is a real pleasant one.:-)

Great, very clear structure, beuatifull sound. Is there a Diggin' in the dirt-remix snare in here?

Glad to hear you improved your earlier version, this one is talking.

Like this version better then your other. Never heard these chords before in here.

Great mix. 4.

Allthough the entire mix sounds fragmented (is that a word?) to me, too many ideas maybe, the live drumming brings something essential a lot of mixes are missing. Mine as well. I do you 4.

Very nice, the sound is great, a bit heavy on the panning maybe (on headphones that is).

Nice mix, great drum sound. Maybe a more differentiating drumpattern would bring even more life in this tight mix.

This could imo. be quite an interesting experience when performed by a real orchestra.

Daring and demanding to listen to, at least for the first minute or so. After that i reckognised beauty in many details and atmospheres. Great rythm section. 4/5

djeeez, am i competing with this? Hotdamn you're good.

A zillion new mixes arrived after yours. Not many came close to this quality really. And lazy vox. i still think they are, but now almost a month later i realise that this late positioning is really greatly helping to emphasize on your groove.

Cheers.

"mr. gabriel, i'm not a monkey - no, i'm not a monkey" :-)

Vanilla coke? Are you crazy? Vanilla? Experimental take, needs to sink in a bit.

Nice music, but the vox and the music to me don't seem to be in the same key.

Very musically, laid back in a way, can't deny it the four stars. Sound is super.

Agree with most of the above. A real piano and live played would make the huge difference it needs. 'Cause i also agree on it being agood idea.

hotdamn, you forgot to take your medicine didn't you? What a load of energy and good ideas here.

Please do so, sounds interesting.

Really fantastic moments in here, the drumming is awesome. The part i like less is where the vox come in to 'do the song', but before and after that: just great.

Great work, beautifull chords.

Verrrrry nice, love all those things going on in the back. One of the best danceversions yet imo.

Do like it.

Can really appreciate this 'empty' sound. Very nice.

Like the vox and like the drums, but errr. it's a cover.

Well, yes i liked it. A lot even. Great job.

Thanks for those two story's Abdullah. :-)

What you were doing the first 25 seconds is beautifull, also that guitar (?) at about 40 is great sounding to me. But after that you've lost me with the drums and the jumping from one idea to another. To bad, 'cause i was really alert when this song started. 3 stars for the first 25 secs.

At 2.40 you got me. The snare is not my taste but fits Talk talk very well.

(Maybe you are proving here that music really is always about music?)

You've got some really gorgeous moments in this mix. Not convinced about the entire thing though. Maybe Brother B gave some good advice, i like those parts a lot as well. Also from 1:43 on to 2:10.

Just too damn short! How many comments do you need before you make that longer version? The rythmtrack is awesome.

Like it a lot. Beautiful synth-pad. 4/5

:-) <- imagine that smiley some ten or twenty times bigger.

Very interesting mix. Like your bassline a lot.

Real cool mix and groove, but errr. is the leadvox totally in tune?

There's something with this mix i can't touch. It has really beautiful moments, but for my taste it's not one coherent thing. Very nice sounds as well.

I shouldn't be listening to these mixes when i'm working. This one makes me wanna moooov'. Great mix.

Must've been busy in your head with all those monkeys jumping there and waiting to get out. I'm happy with every one of them you set free. This one imo. belongs to the group of rather pretty monkeys.

(is there a 13th, huh? whadayasay? 11 days to go still :-) )

Touching touches here, moody sounds. Thanks.

Very 'gabrielesque' sounds. Loveley really.

Be - you - T - full, just really great. Maximum score.

Thanks for this one, really a great version.

Kewl. Hearing this makes it worthwhile stubornly trying to keep on listening to all mixes. Adventurous.

Very nice, good vibe. Thanks.:-)

Odd, cause it's not my style and yet i like it. The only thing that gives me bad vibes is your voxpad.

Agree on those bass-remarks. Since it's a so present part it would be worthwhile to find a better suiting (i.e. more interesting) sound. Very nice pads, good rythm.

Totally agree with balthazaar. And somehow it makes me wanna buy a doob.

:-) and i love dogs. Put u in my favs and now let's see if you can sit up long enough. Thanks for this, it changed my mood.

You really deserve more stars.

Nice aproach, like the high strings.

I could never do this in only one day. I'd need time to take some distance, and then listen again. You' ve got a very nice personal 'view'.

Really like the combination of that robotvoice and PG's.

Totally not a Thom Yorke imitation i'd say. Very nice noises in there and strange how you could make it so . slow. 4/5

Yup, odd. But also not. It's a blend of many things, which i think i recognise, but don't recognise really. I like the 'minimal' piano and i can really appreciate the vox editing. I have to listen more often to it.

Directly to my fav's, and 5 stars of course. Reminds me of everything and nothing.

Agree with Ludstock: for me the dancebeat is too much. The rest is beautifull though. Thanks (from Italy).

Must agree on the different style-remarks earlier. Really like that Metheney-ish synth directly at the beginning.

(Don't worry about the low star rating too much, this has happened to almost everybody.)

That 'dance-synth' doing the "shock the monkey to life"-rif is killing me!:-)

Definitely very nice elements, but - if we stay in kitchen-lingo - despite tasty ingredients and spices for me it's not yet a coherent meal.

Final phrase: "i don't know whether it makes them commit suicide, but i think it gives'em a little bit more ho."

Come again?

Liked it quite a bit, very vivid and nice blend of own idea's and theme's from the original.

You have some really great atmospheres here imo. But the vocals. there are sync and tuning problems which make it somewhat hard to judge as a total. I really wish you could look again at those vox.

Thanks a lot for your kind and constructive comments. :-x

- see how strange our ears are: for me the timing of the vox is correct, although i have a hunch what you are talking about.

- the amount of reverb is carefully chosen and already almost too much. I was aiming for an 'honest' or 'pure' approach here. As T-Z suggested it should be played on real instruments of course, but i don't have that kinda gear.

- and yes, thus all is done with Logic instruments.

All in all: i'm not a technician so i realise the sound could be better. It really suffered from the mp3 compression as well.

Lemme make up for Es and give you 5, then we average to 4, agreed?

Lovely piece MP.

Well, i like it. Nice rythm-thingies.

Tapping my foot. Is that a sign? :-)

Since you want to change it and reload it here, may i give some brutal suggestions? (i know i really really really shouldn't cause i'm not a pro and some here will slaughter me for this):

How about only using the leadvox (and maybe add B_vox, which aren't in here now) from the sample pack. No drums or beeps or bass. I realise there will be a few gaps, but they can be 'filled in' with violin-percussion i'm sure. I really love the real violin here and the drums and beeps and bass don't help imo. And agreeing with other comments: tune the vox every now and then maybe.

:-]

As a musicstyle totally not my cup of tea, but heck. I appreciate your obviously very hard work.:-)

you little devil :-) but a very soothing (i.e. phasing) mix.

I agree with Reini on the piano, not on the rest. Good mood. Thanks for all your mixes.

Wow man, 101 comments! This mix is still working for me. Fixed those strings yet?

How on earth do you programm those tom rolls?

Not my cup of tea but well done (i'm sure).

A very honest mix i think, most enjoyable. If you had to jump for 10 meters, you managed 9. And i don't know what this last missing 1 meter is really.

Cheers.

Don't agree on the Schopenhauer quotation, but i totally agree on this soundpiece you put up here. Evocative and - how do you say that in english- suggestive? 5 stars from me. Keep searching please.

Ultrabright sound an subtle add on's every now and then. A modest and skilfull remix if i may say so with my zero experience. It shows you like your work, so do me and undoubtedly lots of others a favour and put up your other mix too please.

(yup, i also saw your remarks in the forum)

Nice vibe, i like how it picks up again after 2:38 and really like the simple rythmpattern.

You almost make jealousy a 'good' thing. You can feel the nervousness of searching pockets, checking mobile phones, e-mails, biting the nails and wondering what, if, who, why! Great mix.

Phew, so if we meet on some RW-bbq you won't push my face on the grill, right? :-]

Feeling very uncomfy with these 'one-time-voters' here.

Don't know about the entire mix, but you have really extraordinary sounds in here. The airy things and percussion details are beautifull. Like this one better then your first attempt.

What can i say, i'm a sucker for marimba's. Good atmosphere and indeed totally pretentious. :-) Well done.

How did you manage to put up this lengthy 9.38 minutes? Is it the strong compression that makes the hi freq. stand out so much? Apart from that: i could dance to this one (if i could dance that is).

"The moment I sought to capture is the moment of taking the plunge, the risk, looking over the edge and jumping in." That's what you said in your introduction and that's what you actually did when you put up your two mixes. But for me it's tough to decide what i'm hearing: is this a listening experience like f.i. mr S. Reich or is it 'just' a remix of a popsong, or both? Or is it art? Are you an artist? I'm lost. I realise you didn't just 'do' this and i can sense the intensity of your struggle. When i was (much!) younger i had my own and probably not so unique rating system for music: would i buy this? Listening to your work i'm afraid the answer is: no i wouldn't. I give you 3* for your sweat.

Allthough i find some of your other mixes more interesting to listen to you've earned my deepest respect for doing this.

Was that 5.37? Is it over yet? Nice one, good beatin'

Let's not get upset folks, it's supposed to be fun. Fortunately for me i don't know careless whispers too well. Ha!

Back on topic: not my taste this one, but well done imo. I agree with the extreme panning remarks. It's also a bit like in the beginning you immediately throw in everything you've got which makes my waiting for a surprise later invain. Get your next one in please.

At this moment the best 'original-samples-only' remix i heard so far. Funny that the leadvox only start at 2.36.:-)

Good work, nice rytmtrack, reminds me of Autechre in a way. In the end of the song you do succeed in finding strange harmonies which i'm missing in the first part. The chords of the soft synths there are to 'normal' maybe. But all in all very good job i.m.h.o.

By chance i played your mix and somebody else's (Smallatoms Remix, really arbitrary chosen) simultanously. It seems to work. The trick is now to find the most suitable matching mix. Is your next mix almost finished yet?

Cheers.

Hoppin' on my chair here, works for me! The part from 1:56 > 2:40 i like less because of that repeating voxsample, too much for me. Great work mr. B.

Very sweet this descending piano/bell/string sound. Nice mix.

Great mix :-)

A face of it's own, an ugly monkey. Very credible, i like it.

You're truly a production-pro. How do you do it? Great choice of (many!)sounds. Explanation possibility 4 is missing in your list above. It's YOU!

Very very nice

Overall: very nice, but i can't help hearing syncing difficulties with bass and vox.

TRue, vocals need to be positioned better. Nice atmosphere though, like the sequencer from about 3 minutes on.

The most agressive one yet. Nice :-)

Smart man :-) A believable rocksong. At 1.25 the vox imo. don't sync too well maybe?

Really like this, very nice atmosphere. At times it makes me think of Brand X in their good days.

Dunno Bitley, your Chaka had more personality i'd say, some strange monkey bouncing up and down with this puppetvoice. I miss some imagery here.

You created some very cool sounds, but it's like you put too many idea's in one song which imo. makes it somewhat inconsistent.

Humorous and skillful. I actually laughed out loud here.:-)

Very nicely done, great sound.

Like the strings a lot and also the small details. Personally i'd prefer less kicks though.

Oops! Did i say Steam?

There goes nothing. :-]

Very evocative. The (Steam)gimmick at the end put me back on earth again. Wasn't sure if i wanted to go there already.

Great rythmtrack with a great sound. Sometimes i miss the 'connection' between rythmtrack and vocals, like it's from another song or so. All in all; good work.

This guitar ads a nice atmosphere. It has some weirdness over it, but imo. that's a good thing :-)

Wow, great sound, good 'live'feel. Dunno bout the brass.

Very energetic and rich in detail. Good sound also.

Been diggin' in your cd's huh? I like the sound of it. Maybe the leadvox are positioned somewhat 'late' at certain points, which makes it sound somewhat lazy. Nevertheless: good work.

Beautifull. I recognise nothing, but what the heck.

For me the best reggaeversion yet. I can smell some ganja.

Some really really nice guitar parts and atmospheres. I would've liked it if would be a more naturally flowing thing or something. And i agree with LS to have this change at 4' somewhat earlier.

Nice one, 4*

The chords sound really classic. Very nice. Maybe with some more progressions and changes in the rythmtrack it could become more 'alive' or so. Overall sound is great.

Since i'm not a real musician i might be wrong, but is your bassline maybe out of tune?

After 03:00 it starts working for me, really nice. The drumkit is somewhat to much on the foreground there maybe? Maybe a slight reverb on the backing vox? Ah, whatever: nice mix.

Likes. Most obscure mix i heard so far, which is supposed to be a GOOD thing :-) Shorter maybe?

It works for me. The clear open lines bothered by this over-the-top bass are imo. very well chosen and very effective. 4*

With real musicians would be a dream. i just hope they can count well.

Off topic: here's the first rounded circle for me: Nicola sang on Hector Zazou's cd 'Strong currents'.

Just realised i haven't given you 5 yet.

There you go.

Very impressive. Again. Allthough somewhat too 'polished' for my taste it has a natural. vanzelfsprekendheid. which is dutch for 'goes without saying' or something. It's like you shake your arm a bit and there's another mix coming. Is him still around?

Che bella :-) Did you *only* used samples or did you play some parts too?

Simple and effective. I agree with the vox remarks. 4*

Honey-brushed it's not i.m.h.o.

I'd like to know what happens if you DO pay attention to the detail and time signatures.

Playfull, very nice. I like the 'darkness' here.

Cherry blossom festival? Nice work, totally disturbing though.:-)

I likes. Slightly deaf now because of the kicks, but that's how it should be.

Maybe the genre is progtronics or something. I give you four.

Quite nice actually. The background marimba gives it some necessary warmth. Maybe slightly too 'cracky'? Vox are well arranged i.m.h.o.

The first time i listened i was impressed, and still am about your technical skills. But now, after 2.5 times listening i sense a lack of 'emotion'. I'm afraid the tricks overruled it.

Well done i think, i like the atmosphere. You won't win the contest with this one (if that's your goal at all), but at least you managed to keep me listening for 7'28''.

Nice one. At times i'm uncomfortable with the timing of the vocals, but it may be 'cause i'm oldfashioned.

Nice harmonies, maybe more volume on the vox at times. Good work.

Your best mix i.m.h.o.

- off topic -

L-D, i can't remember saying i don't like commercial music. I do actually. And a lot else too.

Technically very well done i'm sure. But i'm not smelling any ganja yet.

Very nice :-)

Thank god we're finally starting to leave the commercial paths. 4 stars.

An unortodox approach which i like. Maybe it's because you seem to be the only one here who didn't know the song before. The sound is -to my discutable taste- not completely fresh, but in this contest i'm more interested in ideas rather then productional skills.

Nice work.

Beautifull T-Z. I might actually check out your website.

The keyproblem seems enormous to me! It hurts. If i may say so: please redo cause it could work out as a good piece. And maybe a slightly less mechanically played piano as well?

I like your drumming, very energetic in combination with the bass. Crewl.

The first part (t.m.h.o.) isn't all that, but after 2:15 it really gets going. From there on i likes! Some vox syncing probs maybe?

This version could certainly go directly to the 'Let's make love collection'!

Not my cuppa, but very wel done.

Hey Einstürzende, i like your somewhat haunting guitar, specially the one after about a minute or so.

Like the strings, but the drumming is a bit loud at the cost of the nice atmosphere you laid underneath.

Quite spectacular in the sense of adding a totally new drama to the song. I like the subtle use of some of the provided audiofiles. The drumming is somewhat too standard for my taste, but the entire piece is nevertheless a great pleasure to listen to.
