Remixer Notes

Hi all music lovers!

This is my very first official remix/cover of a pg song.

I opted for using only vocal lines, changing the song's structure "just a little bit" and using an unusual useful string quintett (2 Vlns, 1 Vla, 1 Vcl, 1 Db). Let say, a (un)classical way.

One thing came at first in my mind: "A foreign body and a foreign mind". From here to some strange and foreign notes/sounds/harmonies, the way is there.

So, this is the final line-up involved into this curious project:

peter gabriel » voices (of course.)

members of the Vara?din "Virtual" Quintett » string quintett

Enjoy! (I hope, at less.)

Saluti,

.andrea [ aka "idefix" aka "dersklerosenkavalier" ] riderelli.

[ .in memoriam patris 19.04.1926 / 06.02.2010. ]

[ .dedicato al mio babbo. ]

Technical Information

» written, elaborated, mixed and mastered on Reaper 3 [ www.reaper.fm ]

» string quintett composed from samples courtesy of Vara?din Orchestral [ www.image-line.com/documents/varazdinorchestral.html ]

» some excellent plugins from Voxengo [ www.voxengo.com ] and Nomad Factory [ www.nomadfactory.com ]

(for curious souls only: headphones (sometimes) recommended.)

This is so strange,I like it a lot. No other mixes sound like that. Weird in a very interresting way.

J.R.

Great. The so wellknown vocals fit seemingly in your string pattern and don't feel strange at all in it. Complimenti davvero.

BRAVO!!!

Nice. 2:30 section is awesome. :-)

I Like it, sounds very cool! :-)

A mix really good. In line with the."time scratching" :-) moment of PG.

Again, congratulations and good luck.

DjAnsia.

Great ! Yes, I love 2:30 amazing bass section.

Only one word . Fantastico !!

Thnkx,

\Doc Gy

Fantastico indeed! So inventive!

Very fine remix, it's somehow classic yet completely new.

Wonderful, magnifique, sublime, I don't have no words ! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Infinitive stars for me too !

And special bonus for the "laughing" sample : (remind me Dark side of the moon)

At last someone did something really creative with this sample pack! Your remix is absolutely fantastic and I like it a lot. I agree with all the previous comments, and especially with HaveMercy, Djansia, Synthetic and didierbardin.

In my Favs and Comp Chart!

:-)

This is great stuff man. Very meticulous arrangement and very creative, this is what we want! The samples sounds pretty good for the dough by the way.!:-)

Foe me, The Best, El Mejor.wow incredible wacky, chamber arr.

Kudos, man. that"s wicked and very UNIQUE.How does a musician get this vibe from this tune is beyond me?

I am.WOW:-)Talented and hopefully making a humble living of your talent

After a second listen. You deserve a 5 10

Hopefully PG will be inspired by your arr. to do this tune in is orchestral tour.

Hi idefix,

I think there is a competition now, but goodness knows

how it works!

Only in Sima Edy competition they used charts to decide a site winner

http://www.realworldremixed.com/competition_4_dubc.php

Rules are always an unknown quantity here :-]

wonderfull !!!!!!!

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Bravo! Asa imi place piesa asta, cu acest "ambalaj" ma atrage.

I like PG packed like this.

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Congratulations! I'm glad that you remain THE TOP. Good luck! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

This is truly brilliant, very inventive and sounds like it could have come off the "scratch my back' project. :-)

Italians do it better !! :-)

Not the fist string based remix, McCello's Salala being a good example.

However, this is superb. Inventive, off beat and the whole thing just works so well.

Congratulations, top marks :-)

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)(bravo)

the best mixture of the sound timbres - the voice's and the accompaniment's. very sophisticated, in the best sense of the notion :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

I canâ??t help me of listening it

:-) Off cause kind of weird sounding collage. I like!

dear all!

thank you very much for all sort of kind comments you are writing on this page!!!!!

@Revival Bassist: you are right! i knew McCello remixes (as i commented to in those days as well as in these days): they are really wonderful pieces of music!

i hope you'll will continue to love this piece as well as the forthcoming one: it's a cover of "games without frontiers" that is now the table of moderators.

love to all of you!

cheers from rome,

andrea

the change of tempos is amazing. A little of a Coldplay feel to it. Amazing job. I really enjoyed listening to the great music and beats.

I listened to your both remixes and liked them both but this one I liked even more. Quite a remix or maybe an arrangement is a better word! Very imaginative.

I'm a fan of pg since long time and I enjoy very much your cover. This is a "cry of hope" (as we say in Italy)in this "flattening" musical world.

Tks

avaler:-x

Eccezionale.:-)

Bravo Maestro! :-) cla

I agree with avaler.

and i salute you for your composing skills, this production is also a advertisement for the Reaper ( I use Cubase 5, mostly) Looking forward to your next one,

Ciao:-)

There are definetly influences from other songs and cultures and they blend together in this queer, yet intriguing remix. A great job!

COOL, very original. Some fresh air miles away from commercial bullsh.

Ciao

Al

grand:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Congratulations! It sounds totally "scratch my back"!

Interesting stuff. Cant see it being the first dance at anyones wedding, but the one country i have never visited is Albania so cant really be sure.

Unique , Special , beautiful , original.!!!

Very good

A packagin full of surpraises . Wonderfull work.

Blissfull, enchanting, buzzing and filled with amazing turns and twists. :-) :-] :-) :-]

this is fantastic! one of the most original and well executed remixes i've ever listened to on this site! i would PAY for this one! outstanding. congratulations!:-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Wow. You truly deserve everyone of them stars given to you. In terms of artistic vision and realization this piece is really outstanding. What about the Varazdin-Quintet? Any relations to Croatia ? And is the tiny piece of laughter at the beginning and the end really taken from Jethro Tull`s "Up to me"? A friend of mine made a bet for a bottle of red wine that this is the fact. Tell me tell me . :-) :-) :-)

Great work !!!

hi paul!

thank you for your kind comment!

in order, now:

1) as you can easily see here - www.image-line.com/documents/varazdinorchestral.html - yes, it's related to croatia. samples were recorded there and sold by image-line.

2) you won the bottle! that piece of laugh is taken from the pg stems! nothing to do with my loved jethro tull, sorry for your friends!

and, with this occasion, i invite you and your friend to listen to and to vote (if you like it, of course.) to my pg's "games without frontiers" cover named "the remembering game" now in competition on indaba music.

here is the link: http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/19627

voting is very simple and fast. you don't need to register on indaba site. all's need is a valid e-mail address where they will send you a mail containing a vote confirmation link to click. that's all!

ah, btw. a previous - and slightly different - release of my "the remembering game" is present here at rwr. the link is easy to find.

best regards from rome,

andrea

You are simply mind blowingly superb! Thank you.

awesomw as usual!! thx for sharing!!!:-)

Remixare è reinventare, manipolare e interpretare, giocare e sognare.

Grazie per tutto questo!:-)
