I love fusion, so here it is, trad, rock, electro, pop. I imagined Depeche Mode (the early pop version) and The Pogues got together with me this is what woul have come out, lol.

the title of the remix tells it all, Rasta Roots, Rock and a bit of an ambient feel, wanted to take this in a new sound environment so I just kept the vocals the rest is all new.

usually I try to reflect the mood of a song in my remix but in this case I went the opposite way, this is about love and thrust and I gave it a darkish rocking mood, I went more with what the vocal performance was giving me vibe wise, don't let the funk bass fool you, this has an alternative rock overtone with some rocking guitar solos. Probably the most different from the original I did so far.

wanted to make this into a dancehall rocking track to think of the sunshine as we here in Canada are entering winter, something I can imagine lovely ladies dancing on a beach somewhere while I'm freezing my balls here, lol.

My original remake of Shock the monkey was done too fast. Almost two years later I miked, a drum kit for a recording session. The band didn't show so I sat down on the kit & Shocked the Monkey!

man this was fun, the image I had from the start is the people that around the world took part in the occupy where ever, and then I saw them all standing up and marching together, you get somewhere a lot faster marching then sitting, at first it had a shuffle beat that worked but it did not have the uplifting feel I was looking for, and then the whole thing came together the horns, the marching band or army snare drum, and I had the feel I was looking for, I kept from the original the close miked guitar, the verse bass and of course the vocals, I'm pretty happy with the result, I don't have much time so I do these in 2 or 3 sessions in the week, hope you enjoy.

wanted to give this a Tom Tom Club vibe, I love that band (Talking Heads members), so it has a bit of an alternative funk sound, I love the rockier original version wanted to do something different while respecting the track's structure, so get your disco shoes on and boogie.
